Insurance question!

Juggernaut

Jul 2, 2007, 3:55 PM
I just recently purchased the AX8600.
I didn't get the insurance at first. But then a couple weeks later I went in and decided I wanted it.
The agent there told me that you can only get insurance in the first 3 days of your phone purchase.
She placed insurance on my line anyway.

She told me there was a $95 deductible.
Isn't that a little high? Not even insurance through AT&T charges that much. Their deductible is $50 for any of their phones.

But anyway, hypothetical question.
What happens if I happen to "lose" my phone, get one through insurance and then "find" my old phone a couple months later?

Do I keep both of them?

No way!

Maybe it's because of different markets?

That's just not fair now is it?

Which color did you get?

You have the wrong insurance. You may not be covered for the full cost of the phone.

Here's how it works. If the phone is over a certain price(i.e high end phones). It is $7 a month with a $95 deductible. Under a certain amount. It is $5 with a $50 deductible. You have the wrong insurance if you are only paying $5 a month for the LG Ax8600.
To the other question.

He would get to keep both phones. But no insurance claim may be filed on the phone again. So sell it to a buddy, but tell him that he can't put insurance on it.

The previous stated about tiers is correct. However, the LG 8600 is a low tier handset. You can add insurance after the point of sale, but it has to be done through the insurance company. 888.723.3360. They will make a test call to your phone. Whether the rep put on the insurance or not, the ins cmpany will not see it, unless you call them. The phone "technically" can't be used again, unless the rep does what they are supposed to do when activating a customer owned and activated phone.(Research where the serial number came from)

It's $95 because of the cost of the phone. That's not Alltel's charge, that's Asurion's.

Also, you can add insurance after the first 7 days, you have to contact Asurion directly to do so, the only "catch" is that you have to wait 30 days before you make a claim.

ok so finally i got it solved: first i called a friend with the same exact phone and asked her how much was her insurance she said 4.99 with a 50 ded. but still wasnt satisfied

called alltel and got a rep who gave me the insurance number

called them and told them how everyone was giving me every kind of different answer

the rep from the insurance company said that anything thats 300 or over in retail price is $7 with a $95 ded. the lg retail price is 279.99 which falls under so it is $5 with a $50 ded. that some reps might be confused because the promotional price is higher. but she said that i got the right insurance and that previous rep that said that the rarr, krazr and smartphones wher the only on with 95 ded was right. and if a...

Im a CSR for Alltel the deductible for the AX8600 is $95.00. If you "lose" your phone and find it and you file and insurance claim you agree to return the lost phone back to asurion.

Alright here goes----

ProductGuard Plus is the correct insurance for the 8600. It is $5 flat a month and a $50 deductible for Physical Damage/Liquid Damage/Theft/Loss. The 8600 is definately a nice phone but it is IN FACT only $5 a month with a $50 deductible!

This is coming from An Alltel Rep with a few years tenure.

Ok, so I'm going to take your word for it.

So what do I do now?
Just call them up and tell them I think I'm on the wrong insurance program?

What if they notice that I placed insurance on the phone after the allowed time?

i know that one of the reps told me that if you pass your allowed time that only the insurance company can add it not alltel. call the insurance company at 1888-729-3360. before you give them your personal info ask if theres a penalty if you add it after teh allowed time, if they say no then give them your info and change it.

Correct number is 1-888-723-3360 - but you had most of it right and it's the thought that counts.
