Is nextel any better now?

Oct 26, 2003, 7:02 PM
Alright guys...

I've always been true to verizon, but now more and more of my friends are getting nextel and my contract with verizon is expiring soon.

I've always been a fan of nextel except two factors, and they are important factors.

1. Horrible reception, none of my friends nextels work in my basement, obviously i need the phone to work at my own house.

2. Atrocious sound quality from the speaker, i have never heard worse garble coming out of a cell phone in my life.

SO.. I need to know, did nextel fix these issues with the i730? Can you actually understand what people are saying, and is reception better overall?

I have an i90c b model. The sound quality in the speaker is great to me, and from what I've read the i730 is even better. Hope to upgrade in the next month or so. As far as basement reception goes, I think it all depends on your phone, your location to the tower, and what's between your basement and your first floor. I have a friend whose phone works in parts of the basement. Try a nextel for 14 days, and use less than 30 minutes on the phone to see if it will work for you in the areas you mentioned.
