Porting Number to Hybrid Phone

If there are any Sprint/Nextel technicians here can you explain to me why it is so difficult to port my existing Verizon phone numbers to my hybrid phone, I was given a new phone number when I got my IC502 on Dec. 29, at that time I told them I would be porting my numbers within 2 to 3 weeks and they said that it would not be a problem, so I called Sprint/Nextel 2 days ago to try to port the numbers and they said they are not sure they will be able to port the numbers, they said their system shows the numbers are available, but because it is a hybrid phone there is some kind of complication and it could take up to 2 weeks for them to port the number if they are able to. that to me doesn't make any sense, what difference does it make as to wh...

unfortunately, once a number is programed to the hybrid, another number cannot be programed. i am sorry that customer care told you otherwise. i work for sprint at a dealer and have already gone thorugh this with a customer. there is a dedicated hybrid support number you can try to call, but i still dont think it will help. good luck.

Actually I was able to speak to somebody that knew what they were doing or at least seemed to know what they are doing (number porting center) and he was able to port the number, he claimed the Sprint # and the Verizon # had to be in the same operating location? both numbers are 718 so I didn't understand that? anyhow he said the Verizon number should be active on the sprint phone by 7pm tonight I guess I shall see if everything went through the way he said it would.

Just reporting that the last rep I spoke to did actually know what he was doing, if I call my number I wanted to have ported it rings on my Hybrid phone, If I make a call from hybrid phone the correct number shows up on caller ID, strangely if I make a call from my Verizon phone it still is making outgoing calls, the phone number still shows up on caller id, no incoming calls though.

I think there's a little more involved in porting a number than talking to a computer and telling it what to do I mean come on dude.

My guess is that Sprint has not got their $hit together on porting phone numbers in to hybrid handsets. They're not the best company you know. 😉
