All of Nextel's metrics, expect for net rev, were terrrific. Due to some asset sales and other tax related issues their net rev was low.
by the way since accounting rules and leasing rules have changed that will effect earnings too. today, i belive, cingular (bell south and sbc) have modified and redid their earnings becuase of that.
their tax status is a big hit especially since they have used basically all of their losses carry fowards. now instead of paying no taxes or less taxes they are paying at the full tax rate of about 35 percent or so.
dont worry they will be just fine if they continue with these great numbers with sub growth with their core, boost, arpu, churn, and lifetime revenue per user and other metrics.

I read the article... My post was not to knock Nextel... I didn't expect Nextel to take such a hit... The initial shock drove the creation of this thread
i mean they have no more losses and they make money. thus; they should pay taxes. they did very well with core growth and all of the other metrics.
they lowered their eps guidance for the full year 2005 but they might always end up beating it anyway becuase they are very conservative with their guidances.
not to worry.
