Hey Nextel18 lil help here

My friend has nextel and wants to give her boyfriend the contract. They went to the store, had the credit ran, came back no deposit but they told him he'd have to pay $50 for the check. So of course they left and went someplace else with the credit check number and they said they didn't have to pay that, but she'd have to pay the etf. None of it sounds right. I admit I work for cingular and not nextel, but I've never seen anybody have to pay the etf to do a transfer or service. Any ideas?

Do you ever feel robbed after taking the time to tell someone the blatantly obvious?

it wasn't blatantly obvious. All companies work differently. With cingular you have to go to the store and sign papers. I didn't know you didn't have to with nextel. sorry.

Any time you have a problem of this type, simply call customer service. It WAS blatantly obvious.

yea, you are correct. you didnt know and differnt companies have differnt polices. dont take them so personal i mean grant and muchdrama, they dont know much.

but yea, call up customer service and/or finance/billing and give them whatever information they ask from you and they will be able to help you. by the way its called something like "transform of ownership" or something of that sort.

good luck. tell us how it goes.

This coming from a guy who's been on this forum for months and months and months and STILL doesn't know how to use the "message above, quoted" function. Nice to have you back, buddy...I was running out of fools to make fun of.

sorry, i have been away. let me try to help you with your questions..

i actually did this when i was 18 years old with my dad and i. the contract was under my dad's name and i wanted to put it under mine. what happened was that they ran my credit check and i had no problems. next they called my dad to ask him all of the details and ask if he is ok with it. then they called me telling me its all set and fine. (customer care and finance/billing) i didnt have to sign any papers or anything and we didnt have to pay any etf fees. i assume that still exists... you might have to increase the contract length though..

hope that helps..

They called today and the customer care said to go to the store. (they got a lazy rep) So they hung up and called back and got it all taken care of. No deposit, and no contract extension. So it appears they got it all straightened out. Thanks.
