GPS 101

this forum has been on mute lately.
here to cheer things up.

anyway i was looking at nextel's website and they didnt really offer alot of info on their GPS. Global Positioning Satelite. I really like the idea of having the resource to know where my nextel phones are. How much does this cost? Any additional info that i should know of?
Will anyone be able to track down where i am going, or can you set it to private mode etc??

There are 2 types of GPS services offered. One - Mobile Locator - can track any Nextel phone. The second - XORA, Portable Internet, @Road, etc - requires a Java enabled phone. You have to download the app from the GPS provider and run it to track the phones.

Either solution requires setting up an account with the approproate GPS provider. You will be given a log-in and password and only people who have the account information can track the phones.

Mobile Locator is $15.00 and provides real time tracking only. It pings the phone and provides its current location only. you can not track hisorical data. The Java based GPS solutions provide real-time and historical tracking data. The Java app captures the location data on a regular ...
