Help me hold on. Must...resist...temptation.

Okay, here's the deal. I'm currently with Verizon (have been for many years)and I have no problems with them at all. None the less, I have decided to switch to Cingular for a few reasons:

1. Roll-over (duh..I paid for those minutes)

2. My wife's phone through her work is with Cingular, so we would get the free mobil-to-mobil thing.

3. Many friends and family on Cingular (same advantage as #2).

4. I get a pretty big discount on my rate plane with Cingular because of where I work.

Now here's the temptation. Verizon has very cleverly set up their "New Every Two" discount to be available 2 months prior to the end of my contract. So here I am...in 5 days I could walk into a Verizon store and come out with a cool new phone (with...

Don't cave in. It sounds like there are too many advantages with cingular to stay with HO-rizon. Plus the bluetooth on cingulars phones doesn't have OBEX blocked and allows you many more functios.

Yeah, that's another reason I want to switch. Even though I doubt I'll use many of those features, it tics me off that Verizon cripples them and charges for everything. Honestly, I'll probably only ever use the Bluetooth for a headset. But I like the idea of knowing I can do more if I want.

Here we go again...I've never heard of this so called static that you V-guys talk about...
On another note where is your so called network when you go on a plane and travel overseas?

Airport security to Verizon user: "I'm sorry sir, your network has to stay behind..."

I'm not trying to start a war here. It just needed to be said.

I've NEVER had any problems whatsoever with Cingy.

A word of advice: DO NOT GET THE RAZR. You will be happier in the end...

I love the static statements, because it shows their ignorance.

If you have a GSM phone and you hear static, there's something wrong with your phone or SIM card. It's usually the SIM card.

i would like to see also who they chose to publish reports from. i wonder if they asked what type of phone/tech/how old... i'm a cingular 'fan boy' for a reason and in the southeast, hands down cingular has everything up on verizon and t-mobile... but cunsomer reporst said different... you can very clearly see that coverage in the SE by cingular is better than both and with EVERYONE i deal with on a daily basis says cingular is better here... i think CR just doesn't like us!

Can the red check mark give you that Sony Ericsson phone that you want? Nope!
Will you have a SIM card if you stay with them? Nope!
The fact that you have fam/friends (who are smart enough to have cingular 😈 ) should be your turning point. Besides, two months will go by like this [..] 😲 😳

1. Roll-over (duh..I paid for those minutes)

Duh, you're paying for a package of minutes you don't use, consequently in the long run paying more.

I don't know about you, but I would not want to pay more for something I would not use. Perhaps we are different.

Not to mention Cingular's new restrictions on carrying over minutes.

Well, you would be paying the same amount for the same amount of minutes with verizon. Usually when I check my customers usage they don't all use the same amount of minutes every single month of the year. It usually fluctuates and a couple times a year they go over their normal peak minutes and rollover saves them some cash. According to plooky's logic you should shop with someone who gives you the most minutes for your money. Try t-mobile.

Have you looked at the plans? Verizon and Cingular each offer very similar plans for the exact same price. The only difference is Cingular has Rollover and Verizon doesn't. There are many months that I use less than my plans has. But then there have been months where I've gone over. I got BIG bills on those months. It woul...

Speaking of math, TxW did you hear that Verizon call about .002 dollars versus .002 cents?

If not, it's in the shop forum, should be easy to find 😁

As for Rollover, it's a gimmick. A selling point.

People who aren't using the minutes to begin with and having them accumulate in this "rollover poll" is fine and all, but chances are most people will never touch those pooled minutes.

Really? And what do you base the fact that "MOST" people will not touch them?

I see very few people that never use rollover. For some, it may only be one month of the year. But considering woth Verizon you would pay overage (or with Sprint you would pay the $5 block) having a steady bill with Cingular sure was nice for those thousand of people that come into my stores each year.

Oh don't get me wrong, I've seen the terror inspired reasons you could use them.

All things being equal between a carrier, I would prefer the one with rollover if that was the only difference.

Btw... do you know this Texan?

You live in Texas, I asked if you knew that Texan as a joke.

More to the point, I was curious as to your opinion regarding the video.

Comments I have read elsewhere indicates it represent quite well many Texans, I was curious as to how you felt.

For example, the crowd reaction was quite different between Richards and Shore.

Here you go again, poking your head around without any information about the subject or person.

This guy has clearly stated he has varied usage and rollover is perfect for that.

And Cingular has no "new" rollover restrictions.

Take your trolling comments back to phonescoop myspace, I mean the lounge forum.

O' Rly?

You mean they still allow you to plan jump and keep those rollover minutes? Isn't that what you used to encourage customers to do before they changed the policy?

What if you simply change your plan?

If they are "my minutes" I take it they never expire?

I remember the forum being up in arms for awhile about the new rollover policy changes... course that could have been awhile ago, I do have issues estimating time and distance gaps 😈

All other comparisons being equal, I would agree if it weren't Cingular 😁

if everyone you know has cingular and cingular gives you coverage where you need to use the phone...then I would think Cingular. Just like if someone would be only calling VZW customers and was looking for cell service. Would not make sense to get Cingular when you could call all your friends for free. Unless VZW didn't work where you needed it to and another carrier did. Seems pretty much straight up to me...

Yeah, big time gaps. Must be all the LSD.

And you know what, it was all for nothing. For those customers who have a legitmate need (say going from a single line to a FT) they still make exceptions. It keeps those from abusing the system that were intentionally doing so.

For someone who complains about corrupt politicians so often you sure do get upset when a company blocks a loophole for "corrupt" customers.

The most important things to me are reception, sound quality and Bluetooth performance. Based on those requirements, if I were to stay with Verizon I'd probably get the LG VX8300. The phone I'm getting from Cingular will probably be the Sony Ericsson W300i (or the W810i if the price comes down by then).

With cingular you are elegible 21 months into a 24 months contract to get a new phone. It beats Verizon by 1 months.
