Aloha! Cingular Recognized as 'Best Network' on Islands of Hawaii, Oahu

Mar 14, 2006, 12:32 PM
Much of Hawaii now joins the growing list of markets where Cingular operates the "Best Network" among wireless carriers.
Drive testing by Telephia, a leading independent research and advisory firm, recently confirmed that Cingular's network on the islands of Hawaii and Oahu has fewer dropped calls than any other provider.
Ed Maruyama, Director of Sales – Hawaii, said that being the best is a good feeling.
"I'm proud of Cingular and proud of all our employees who helped to make this happen," he said. "Now our customers all over Oahu and the Big Island can know they have the best, most reliable wireless service on the island."
The market recently launched an ad campaign promoting the findings.
In 2005, Cingular invested more than $20 mill...

as someone who has had Cing, T-Mo and VZW I can't agree that Cing is the best. I mean if you never leave Waikiki then maybe you could stand it. If you travel the other islands and to the mainland like I do then Cing is not the best option. I would put them on par or a little better than T-mo in most categories but VZW was the best option for me.

Just an opinion from someone who lives in HI, each person has to take into account their own needs.

These little eternal emails don’t mean anything this has been discussed to death πŸ™„ Cingular works well somewhere just not in very many places. Even Stan the man admitted just last quarter verizon was the benchmark and first quarter of 06 all of the sudden they have the best network. Please Come on I hope noone believes that. Weren't you the one calling me a troll when I posted something informative in the VZW forum?
Now is my turn to be nasty and say: "get the f out of the Cingular forum. We don't need your senseless commments here" 😑 Bye!
Go to beg Vz take you back.

Just because you couldn't afford our deposit (when you tried to get with T-Mo or Cingy) doesn't mean that you have to come here and talk trash about us or T-Mo... 😑

And when did you have Cingular?
Cingular completed network integration in HI Q4 of 2005. Therefore the results. πŸ˜‰

As someone who has visited Oahu tiwce in the last few years I have to say Cingular did fairly well. Coverage was great all over the island. I traveled up the center on H-3 (I think) to the NW corner (ended on the dirt road at the bluffs), out across the north coast past Sunset, etc. and BYUH and then down around the NE side as well. At the time I carried a TREO 600 and most know those weren't great for reception anyways.

Only place it had troubles was going through the tunnels on Like Like and H-2 (again, may be wrong on the interstate number but you know where I mean).

BTW, how does Hawaii have an Interstate system?

I knew there would be different views on this one. I was just giving my opinion as someone who has lived here for over three years. I was talking about the quality I received inside buildings and homes, outside, and around the island, I also included my opinions while on the other islands and the mainland traveling. I stated simply that VZW was the best for me. I didn't say that any other company sucked because I was trying to avoid the whole mine is better than yours crap and the arguments that go along with it. I was just letting people know that you should try before you buy.

As far as the interstate system we do have one as silly as it sounds. In addition to being designed to support automobile and heavy truck traffic, interstate...

Nope, I replied to someone else.

You offered an opinion that was based on your experience, others here are complete morons who feel being negative is the only way to go.

Definately not directed at you.

I'm assuming the will say "largest all digital network" since that is true and they try to confuse ppl w it however seriously provide some links to this stuff you keep posting. It's ok if cingy is better than vzw I just find that Vzw proves they are what they say while cingy and even stan claim that vzw is the benchmark. Also, no need to speak spanish no habela espanol.

No, I have seen a commercial where Cingular touted their network here in southeast Texas (Houston area). By the way, that Stan interview that u and the other chic likes to bring up was done a while back before integration had taken place in many areas. And also, no one is not saying Verizon is the benchmark but just because they are does not mean that Cingular, Sprint, & all others are not making strides to topple them. You just have to look at the recent investments that Cingular has been putting into its network and see that they are serious about improvements, and now they have an independent surveyor to back them up. Dont hate! 🀣

I'm not hating. I really dont' care if cingy passes vzw chances are it will not effect my paycheck! However all I REALLY WANT TO KNOW IS...who is this independent surveyor and where (without paying for a subscription)can I find this info. You guys are making statements and when I ask for proof the only reponse i get is "don't hate"
Simply back up the info with something other than "internal email"and will let it go

i have no clue, i just saw the commercial the other day. im like you, i could care less either way. i just think that it kills some people in here when some surveyor confirms that cingy is better than verizon in some places. also, she left the name of the surveyor, google them and check them out. since, i currently have both (at least until May when VZW permanently gets the ax), i just have to say that cingy is much better and i was duped by the "its the network" slogan and the VX9800 and I am very disappointed. but hey, where you live things might be totally different.

They have been posting that their info came from "internal emails" and then giving a link that you have to pay to subscribe to to search for the info. This to me is BS if you post something of this nature provide the links My interest is simple curiosity not to bash or troll or any bs. Just b/c this is awesome info. if it's true

Ok nto to be an arsehole but, all of these press releases clearly state that cingy is making the claiming based on a study done by an independent research co. WHO IS THE RESEARCH CO.??????? and where do I find their data. If I stand in certain parts of my house T-mo gets full service and Vzw only gets 3 bars however vzw works all through my house. So does this mean that T-mo could claim that they have the best network in my house???? How big was the test area??? What carriers did they use???? Did they travel throughout the entire area or just downtown????? I'm looking for raw data from the research co. NOT A PRESS RELEASE ISSUED BY CINGY!!!!!

I'm sure they are improving but they have a long ways to go before they catch up to verizon. I only had to spend 24 hrs with a cingular phone to understand their poor nationwide rankings. They will probably be a decent company someday certainly not today.

that depends on where you are b/c they are better than everyone else in my area. thats what it comes down to anyway. poor nationwide rankings my foot. they have 2 great regional areas and 2 not so great regional areas. but that was done before they start turning on all the new sites and completed integration. after a billion dollar investment in cali, they just have won a field test in the Bay. Now all they have to do is work on LA b/c when im on the phone with friends, it gets really bad sometimes

It should be noted that the company providing the reports, Telephia, is a small firm based in San Francisco. They have only about 200 employees. Also, their Chariman Jack Roberts and COO Tom Stahl were preiously employed with BellSouth, Cingular's parent company.
