1,000 Anytime Minutes

I've been seeing the TV ads that Cingular is running for $39.99 and up plans with 1,000 anytime minutes.

They told me it does NOT apply to Family Talk lines. I'm still in my 15-day trial period.

If I didn't have Family Talk, would they have re-rated my plan if I asked?

How far into a contract do you have to be before they will allow such changes?

The 39.99 is a 1,000 minute plan. It is just 1000 per month no night and weekends and is does not work on a family talk, but the 1000 mintues is a roll over plan.

they wouldnt re-rate it, but they would make it effective on your next bill cycle.

you can change your plan as much as you need to. only thing is that to get promotional plans after you are halfway through your contract, you need to agree to a 1yr contract/contract extension.

1,000 Anytime min is not all that... it sounds great like t-mobiles "whenever" min... same thing... No Unlimited mobile to mobile... and no unlimited nights and weekends... great price and a good all-around plan... but the Family Talk plans w/ the secondary for 9.99 is the best offer right now...

Well, it really depends on who you are and what your usage is. I like having the option of giving a customer who needs it a ton of anytime minutes with no night and weekend if that's what will work best for them. If they need night and weekend without as many anytime minutes, I can do that too.

Even if someone comes in asking about it and they go with something that has included night and weekend and mobile to mobile, it got them in the door and talking to me so it's all good.

the plan does mirror the tmobile 1000 whenever, but DOES include ROLLOVER. Nationwide no roaming... The plan can also add unlim M2M for only 9.99. Its a really good plan if you don't need nw minutes, OR if you don't use more than 1000 minutes (peak and offpeak). Not to mention you get the largest voice/data network available today with Cingular.

Someone explained something similar to what you have. And Cingular already said it doesn't apply to Family Talk; and I need my N&W's. 😁 Thanks!

Do you really need your nw minutes? That's why plans like these are made.... most people who don't spend all day on the cell phone use less than 1000 minutes a month...n&w included. Take a look at your bill and add it up... if your nw and day minutes exceed 1000, then this plan isnt for you, but if they are less than 1000, it might be an option for you.

I don't know what my usage is yet, I just got my service 14 days ago; and have been without a cell phone for over 8 mos. since leaving Verizon ☚ī¸

Cingular (over the phone) did tell me this was NOT an option for Family Talk (which I have).

Thanks, good to know.

I have just started a 2-yr. contract, so I would have to have completed at least 1 yr. before they would change any rate plans?

And am I correct in thinking that any time you get a new phone, you would have to get a new contract as well?

No,

As long as you are in your first 6 months of a contract, you can get on any promotional plan that is offered with no penalty to your conract. For instance.....you signed up on the 1K anytime minutes for $39.99, then lets say during Christmas, Cingular offers unlimited anytime minutes for $50, you could be on that plan with no penalty.

Now if you had started out on the Nation GSM plan for $79.99 for 1250 minutes, you can go up or down with any rate plan on that brochure throughout your 2 year contract with no extension of your contract. However, if you have a family talk line for $9.99, and you change plans, and the $9.99 is no longer offered, the additional line would change to $19.99, even if you switch to a GSM plan $59.99 and u...

Thanks for the clarification!

No, I still have a couple of days on the phones, and I have come to really like them! Just as long as the joystick holds out. 🙄 And IF I can get my rebates! đŸ¤Ŗ

I was looking at clamshells before and have never had one, but am happy with the candybar one they sent, the SE T637. I have always had candybar Nokias before and liked their easy interface, but I've gotten used to the new SE. My son really likes the new phone and he's not a phone person. 😉

If and whenever the Nokia 6230 comes out, that's one I might consider trading up to. And what you told me is what the Cingular in-store rep said, that I could trade up with the phone, but would have to pay full price.

When you say 'e...

no, you can change rate plans whenever you want, it just wont take effect until the next bill cycle. (i.e. if your bill cycle ended on the 25th of the month, and you went in today to change, your new plan would start sep. 24th)

as far as getting a phone, the contract is only necessary to give you the discount on the phone. if you were on GSM, and willing to pay regular retail price for a phone, you could buy any phone at any ti...

Thanks for the info.

Does that mean I could buy a GSM phone ANYWHERE, like online, and then switch the SIMs and have Cingular activate/port my number?

I'm new to SIMs and was wondering if they follow your phone, even IF you change carriers?

Hi,
No the sim will only work will Cingular based on it is programed by us. As for the phone you can buy the phone any place you like as long as it is a Cingular phone. I say this because we roam with two carries > T-Mobile and AT&T. T-mobile will only release the unlock codes for thier phone after 90 days of service with them and AT&T will never release the codes not even in return for a DNA sample. Ha Ha. We run in to this all the time. Recently My store had a customer that bought a V600 (run on AT&T) on Ebay and tried to activate it on Cingular. By the way BEWARE Ebay buyers. Sellers have been stripping IMEI labels from the phones. And with out that labels any carrier is not suppose to activate the phone.

Thanks for the clarification; I've never not bought a phone just by itself before.

That's funny about AT&T; are they still going to act like that after the Cingular merger? đŸ¤Ŗ

I personally don't think I'd ever buy a phone on e-Bay; I'd be worried they were 'hot' or something. 😁

Be clear on this it is not a merger it is an aquisition. The day the checks drop AT&T will be owned by Cingular and thing will be run the Cingular way. () days or so after that the AT&T name will be returned to AT&T corp. And AT&T wireless will be no more.

Sorry, that's what I meant. 🙂

And I was wondering if the AT&T wireless part would just cease to exist. I have a cousin in WV, and she is with AT&T and had heard nothing about Cingular's acquisition. 😎

AT&T customers will be treated very fairly and thier service will not change unless the choose to move to Cingular. But the active selling of new plans for AT&T will cease to exist but not the current plans the AT&T customers are already in if they are happy were they are they are more than welcome to stay there. I have heard nothing different yet on this subject. We will care as much about our new customers as well as our existing ones.

Do you know if AT&T customers will be allowed to add multimedia or internet plans to their existing ATT voice plans, or will we have to sign up for a Cingular voice plan?

Like I said the date is coming and we are not sure how things will work 100% at this point. My comment before is based on what I understand at this point. But nothing follows. Cingular has every interest to please all, within limits of commiting corporate suicide if you know what I mean.
