OK you can tell me all htis crap about its only a name change blah bhal blha anyways cingular will loose a lot of cusomers who remember the old name!
Here is an example
Hitler- german who killed thousands of JEws
now no one is named hitler. Why? because they remember his name and what it stood for!

This is how people will think of ATT! NO matter who owns it whatever it is still having the same name which gives people bad memories!

OK, I'm not happy about the name change either, but thats a really bad example...

1st of all AT&T didn't kill thousands of people. 😳

2nd... It really is a name change! Stop getting all bent out of shape!!
I don't agree with it either. But they (cingy) feel that AT&T is a better name

I know people are upset, but come on! Comparing Hitler to Cingular's name change!! How ridiculous!

yeah bad example but like I said in the verizon forum were this was started people remember the name. Mostly my dads generation (he is 50 something). He has bellsouth and said as soon as the merger was approved he is not going to keep his local service. People who remember the old at&t won't care that it is no longer that company!

oh yeah that will work. 🤣 As I said my dad is getting rid of them for local service. That is a harder decision then cell. As that is his only choice! He is going to a cell phone from either sprint or verizon. putting new in front of it doesn't change the last letters AT&T!

I am not saying a name makes a company. BUt some poeple can put aside what they feel about a name and concentrate on the service. I hated sprint local. I love them for cell service. But if I was like my dad I would have never tried them!

Finding local land line companies is always hard...I gave up on my land line service months ago.
I'd be in the living room and someone calls me on my cell phone! Whats the point of paying extra money?

thats what I am thinking. Even though I pay 40.00 a month for my cable phone I am thinking I don't need it. But for some reason I like it available lol!

Well, see...

If your dad is 50 (something, sad you dont know his age) then he is from a generation we are not from. How can you make biased choices and views based on your fathers era? You cant. It wouldnt be right. Young people, 23 - 28 or so, we are our OWN generation. We were not alive during that time, so how can we judge a company for something it did ...

That really truly makes no sense. You're happy with the service but the company changes nothing but the name and you leave. That's retarded @_@

Wow, not to be a stickler for the facts and stats, but he didn't kill thousands of people, he killed an estimated 11 million, 6 million being of jewish heritage, and that isn't including warfare.

LOL the funny thing is Hitler wasn't their true family surname, it was actually started with an S, and it was also German Jew as well, oh the Irony of it all. Not really I hope he is burning in hell for his embarrassment of the German people.

This is the most hilarious post EVER!

I don't think AT&T is the greatest company out there, and I'm somewhat annoyed that I work for them, but comparing them to Hitler? Wow. You should write bad prime time soaps for the WB (or whatever it's called now).

Personally, I think that it's far funnier to compare them to the Empire, and that Ed Whiteacre is Emperor Palpatine.

I highly disagree. Most people loved/love at&t. It has a very strong name and has much more recognition here and internationally. What I do wonder is if we will start selling home phone service out of our stores.

If you're in AT&T's home territory, then yes.

You people are missing the point, and that the name change is a good thing. Imagine this, and hopefully this isn't that far of a stretch because I believe they had this in mind when thinking of the name change, but DSL internet, Cable and wireless bundles, not to mention landline. Can you imagine the possibilites of discounts that can emerge?

I think you all are missing the point big time.

Your right. Cable CO are already starting this. Time Warner will soon offer Cable, Internet, Home Phone and Wireless through sprint! I am just waiting to see if the price is worth it. But the point is regardless of how good a company is people always will relate it to their name!

Hitler was a last name. People would have to specifically have their names changed to so and so hitler in order to take this name. However Adolf is still a prevelent and thriving option in the world today.

I was about to point this out as well. There ARE still people with the last name of Hitler (I did a quick search to double check this, that everyone wasn't legally changing their name from Hitler). There ARE still people named Adolph, and I didn't have to do a search on this b/c a member of upper management here has that name. 🙂

Yep! I'm sure me and the other 60M+ Cingular user agree with you on that one... 🙄

You keep saying Cingular is crap, but you fail to prove why. Whatever your reason might be, it will def be contradicted by Cingular's quarter results coming up in the next week or so... 🙄
