Does Cingular still charge for incoming txts?

I have Cingular service (through my Godly ATT plan). The coverage isn't all that great, compared to my Sprint work phone, but I have a monster of a plan, so I don't really want to change.

I'm thinking of going to the Blackjack though, so I was wondering if Cing still charges for their incoming txts? I think that this is their one fatal flaw that prevents them from being the powerhouse of the cellular world.

So do they?

Not charging for incoming texts would be like not charging for incoming calls...

How so? ATT didn't charge for incoming txts. I believe, and this is probably wrong since I have never had their service, but I don't think that Sprint, Verizon, or T-mobile charge for incoming txts either.

Are you saying that Verizon doesn't charge for incoming calls?? If so, what the hell am I doing with Cingular?

Last line is a smartass comment and intended to be taken lightly.

All the carriers charge for incoming texts. Sprint does, in fact, have a free incoming call plan.

So ATT was the only one that didn't charge for incoming txts?

Correct ATT never did only the ones you sent out. Was so nice. Also if you had any drop calls you got that credited back to your account wouldn't charge you a dime even if you where talking 15 minutes and then got dropped. The good ole days. Sigh.. That's why I'm curious how the name change will be like if it will bring some of the ATT services back.. Will have to wait and see.
