Keep 8525 or get something else....

I just got the 8525 and I haven't had any problems yet.

I was wondering what the difference was between the tytn and this version? I know there is a video camera and I am not worried about that. Plus the tytn would be unlocked.

I was looking at also maybe switching for the Blackjack or maybe the Trea 750 when it comes out. Out of all the phones which is the best? As far as usuability, adding software and such.

Also anyone know any good sites for free software or themes for the 8525.

Thanks in advance.

Well the blackjack, 8525, and 750 are all WM5 based devices, so loading and syncing software will be essentially the same for all three.

I also had the 8525, it was a great device, but i brought it back. It was laggin on me from day one. half the screen was inactive (would not respond to stylus), as well as some other technical lamfunctions. They offered to fix it for me, but i just exchanged it for the Treo 680 (which by the way is incredible so far).

I liked the 8525, but truly for 450. (485 with tax) I see no value, but this is my opinion.

Some free ringtones, software, and themes are available for download on microsoft.com. I dont have a direct link, but if you follow the menus and get to windows mobile you should be alright.

The difference between the 8525 and the TYTN/Hermes (depending on the manucaturer, they have different body styles) is mostly cosmetic. Although, every version of this PDA besides the 8525 is tri-band UMTS/HSDPA as opposed to dual-band and has a front facing camera for video calling support. Actually, I think some European carriers who brand the phone also take some of the same functions out as Cingular did, but this is kind of a moot point since we are in the US.

Oh, and a great site for WM devices such as the 8525 is Modaco.com. Lots of software and themes to be had. 😁
