well
Ive had the 8525 for a few weeks now, and im considering switching to the treo 680, come of it for cost purposes, but mostly because ive been pretty let down by the 8525. At least mine has been very laggish and uncooperative. Does anyone think this is a good idea?

The 8525 was released two weeks ago tomorrow.
If you switched to the 680 you'd be going from a 400 mhz processor to a 312 mhz and also going from UMTS to EDGE on data speeds. That means more lag.
...
I would think windows mobile requires more "umph" than a palm powered device so the speeds should be comparable except for data speeds.

dont get me wrong, i love the 8525, but not enough to keep it for 500 (which is what i payed with a 2 year!!) Its really a great device, but its already showing signs of fault. It powers on and off by itself, in the middle of typing a message the screen shuts off, half my screen is inactive perminently, and i cannot sync with the computer at all. It would be logical for me to find something else, and i really like the WM5 interface, but i dont seem to have any other options? ☹️

Sounds like you got yourself a DOA(dead on arrival) i would go exchange it for a brand new one and see how the new one acts but $500 is alot, do you live in a 3G area?
...
That's very possible.
Troy, it sounds like your device is having a LOT of problems. That little bugger is hella expensive so it needs to work like it's supposed to... if that makes sense.
You've got 30 days for certain, so I'd swap it. I'm not sure if the store you got it at allowed more than one exchange, but mine does. I'd swap like for like, and if it has the same problems get a different kind of phone.

I'll give that a try, thank you for all your help! But if worse comes to worse, does anyone have any review or info on the 680? Does it play videos, music, stuff like that? Thanks!
