I hear everyone raving about the cu500, but I have honestly had a lot of problems with these phones. About 80% of the customers I sell them to are complaining of dropped calls, and this is in metro atlanta!!! Anybody else have the same problems?

Not with dropped calls, but i had one returned with a tricky #4 button. I had another returned when it wouldn't allow customer to connect to cingular video. It kept claiming that they didn't have the media package required and wouldn't let them continue. I don't see how this was the phone but tech told customers to return device so i exchanged for the same.

I love mine. The only problem I have is the battery life is absolute ****! I think it's just a faulty battery. I had the same problem with a w600 when I one of those. The cu500 pretty sweet though. Once you get used to the slightly awkward feel of the phone the phone is the best Cingy has to offer. But what do I know, I love the D807 and everybody seems to hate it?? 😎

The D807 ROCKS!!!! Well except you can't copy all contacts from phone to sim. Or at least i couldn't figure it out. ☚ī¸ One at a time is better than nothing i guess.

You can't do that on ANY Samsung.

Haven't they learned anything?

I hate that. It's so stupid.

I thought the X497 had it. If it did it was something that should have been perpetuated. I wish all would follow Sonys treatment of sim #s. Auto copy apon access and only show whats on phone, or sim depending on sub menu.

nope, not open to regular accounts yet. all GSM/GPRS/EDGE drops in the same spots all the time. i'm thinking it could be the 1900MHz we use in the carolina's. the phone may work better on 850MHz networks. where are you guys using your cu500s?

I have to assume that Atlanta is UMTS. With that said the device will not hand off from UMTS to GSM, its a hard drop. If you are on GSM it will hold until you end the call and then switch to UMTS, going the other way it will drop the call.

Not true not true... I'd like to get some professional input on this but I have sat and watched my phone handoff from 3G to Edge while I was on a call. I once thought as you did but I saw it firsthand.

Maybe our network team in my market gave me some bad info. Not sure how it would hand off smoothly between the two networks. It would be like a Gait phone switching between tdma and gsm smoothly. Doesnt happen

well perhaps it is simply like a 1900 MHz to 850 MHz handoff...? Can anyone confirm what's happening here?

umts and gsm (edge) are backwards compatible...they can hand off smoothly... think back to tdma and analog...same thing. gait on the other hand would drop the call if going from tdma/analog to gsm as gsm authenticates different than tdma/analog...
