Cingular Wireless Reports Strong Second-Quarter 2006 Results

A little bit surprised with some of the reporting. It is as follows;

1.5 million Net new subscribers.
1.7% overall churn
1.5% postpaid churn

Total net on network= 57.3 million customers

Arpu= $48.84
Data Arpu= $5.77
Postpaid data arpu= $6.60

Churn got even lower than what I had expected. I was thinking 1.7%. Cingular once again surprises me. Got any more detailed info?

Cingular Wireless Reports Strong Second-Quarter 2006 Results
- Highest-ever net income of $540 million, a year-over-year increase of 267 percent

- 1.5 million net subscriber additions, including more than 1 million postpaid customers

- Best-ever overall churn of 1.7 percent

- Best-ever postpaid churn of 1.5 percent

I was surprised on churn, I was right on with the net ads, but I was disappointed with Voice ARPU and happy with the improvement in Data ARPU.

They are having the conference call at 10am, which I will be listening to and you and others can do if you look on Cingular’s investor relations page. There will be talk that is more elaborate when the executives speak on each topic.

Some more information; (this is actually from their slides)

Their ARPU (Voice) had a sequential change of .7% BUT dropped 3.3% year over year.
Postpaid churn decreased 10 basis points sequential and dropped more than 30 basis points year over year.
Total overall churn decreased by 20 basis points sequentially and dropped more than 50 basis points year over ...
