Recently, Cingular introduced new messaging bundles that really don't give the customer a variety of choices in prices and quantity. My question is if Cingular would like to really corner the market, why not offer more competitive packages and prices to their new and existing customers?
For example, one of their "bundles" includes 3,000 messages of any type for $19.99, while over here at T-mobile, we have UNLIMITED for $14.99.
Also, "MEdiaNet Bundles" go for $14.99 with 1000 anykind msg's and 5 mb of GPRS usage. Over here at T-mobile, we have UNLIMITED GPRS usage for %5.99 a month. Combined prices for unlimited msg's and GPRS at T-mobile are $20.98 a month for everything UNLIMITED.
Now, I am a Cingular employee and I know that the ...

i am debating if i want to switch to tmobile. i keep going over my minutes and they have a 1500 minute plan for 39.99. I will be paying 59.99 once my rollover expires and have to upgrade.
I get a 10.00 discount at cingular because of where i work and i have been unable to find anyone and tmobile to tell me if i get a similar discount there.
It does seem that their prices are much cheaper. Wish cingular would get a 49.99 plan.

Thats great if you would like to switch but please remember that that $39.99 rate plan at 1500 minutes does not include free nights and weekends and mobile to mobile is extra at $6.99 a month. To get free nights and weekends, you end up paying a base amount of $59.99, which isnt bad either. However, at the same price with Cingular, one would get only 900 minutes, but with free nights/weekends and mobile to mobile. Think about it. 🙂

i pay 39.99 at cingular now, minus my 10.00 discount plus tax, so it works out to be 46.66. That will go up when i change plans to the 59.99 plan-minus 10.00, plus tax, thats back to 59.99 plus text so 64.98
at tmobile i can do 39.99 plus tax for 1500 anytime. Right now all togehter including nights and weekends and mobile to mobile i use about 960 a month.

Is that line you have with Cingular personal or for work? If its personal, is it the only phone you have?
...
its personal and yes its the only one i have. ive called to see if tmobile will match the deal but no luck.
...
Yeah I wouldnt think so. If thats the only one you have, I would stick with it unless your willing to pay for the nights and weekends with T-mobile. But if you ever change your mind or your circumstances change, come on over. Ill be waiting for you. 🙂
Now, back to my original post. Any questions, comments, or concerns about it?

you work for tmobile?
...
No, I work for Cingular. LoL. But I love me some T-mobile. LoL.
...
i dunno what to do. Its cheaper for me to go to tmobile once all my rollover is gone, but i wont have nights and weekends, but i think 1500 is enough anyways.

Hey at least it was an improvement. I just upgraded my plan from 200 txt messages for $4.99 and 5MB data for $9.99 to the media net bundle. Its an improvement in my book, step in the right direction for sure. Not to mention the CS was excellent when i called them up to change my plan.

cingular wont have good txt/pic messaging plans or internet because they make more money when people go over their limits, i really like cingular but i gotta admit their txt/internet/pic plans suck, i swear they love me as a customer i rack up my bill over txting lol

I was already selling $9.99 text (1000 msg.) with $4.99 MN (1 MB) so my customers saw the VALUE of going to the now lower Media Works price of $14.99 since they now get more Media Net. It's all in how you position it. Cingular does not compete with T-Mobile, compared to Verizon. T-Mobile just doesn't have the coverage. And as long as Verizon continues to offer Unlimited "In Network" text messaging, we will offer 3000 MESSAGES (txt/or pic) for $19.99.
