GPS for cingular?

Does cingular have any plans to launch a GPS "turn by turn" like verizon or sprint?

I can't say that I have heard anything about this, it's not like the PTT or answer tones which has information floating around concerning the possibility of it...

But while were on the subject, lets just make it clear that what sprint and verizon offer is not GPS. GPS as in the same thing that you get with gps navigation systems for your car, boat, plane, mountain bike etc. That has a seperate radio which recieves GPS signals from satellites.

What Sprint and Verizon offer is an addon off of the E911 service. An additional chip in the handsets that allows it to relay tower information with their systems and come up with a 30 meter estimate of where you are. This is the same system that was mandated by the FCC and now is being capital...

i would expect UMTS/HSDPA phones to have it in the future. Europian 3g phones have A-GPS.

A phone such as the HP IPAQ 6515 has GPS built in.

hp ipaq with pocket streets will do it. one of my customers uses it for that.
