i have been looking at posts and i am sick and tired...
why is it... ( i live in canada) why is it that americans seem to think that everyone owes them everything for nothing,

i used to deal with calls ppl asking for mot razr phones free no contract yada yada yada

seriously no one owes anyone nothing...
cingular provides the service, and customer pays for that,, dont come talking bout " my service sucks" if it does do something boutit. dont sit there and be like... " i have been trying to get this solvedfor over a yr now" because that is wrong... no one will sit there with bad service for a yr if they dont like it.

dont call ion to reps and be like... i pay my bill on time... and everything like that

Okay are you finished bashing Americans now? What country is it that the world ALWAYS turns to for financial help in the event of major disasters? Hint: Its NOT Canada. We don't owe the world anything at all and yet we are always the most generous people in the world to people in need all over the globe.

Furthermore (and more to your point), I can understand completely a loyal customer demanding recognition for his/her loyalty in the form of appropriate credits for major disruptions of their service or good upgrade deals since they really can hurt us by churning.

What I don't like is whiny customers who have faced only minimal issues like a dropped call here and there and yet demand large credits and those who demand late fe...

I dont think he was trying to bash the US, he's simply fed up with whiny customers. I'm a sales rep and i have people calling me all the time for free phones. Why in the world do you think you'll get a free phone? why? Nothing in life is for free, even McD's wont give you an xtra free burger to fatten your ass up. It's especially entertaining when customers with horrible credit expect free things, check it out " pay off whatever you owe" and stop thinking that because your in such horrible debt that you should get a phone for nothing.

I hope you don't think you can generalize about all Americans from a single web forum. FWIW, I've run into plenty of whiny Canadians complaining about various issues up there too ;).

Part of the problem in the U.S. is the entitlement culture which does exist to some degree. People start to get used to all the perks and options available in their daily lives and forget that there are costs involved behind the scenes. Unrealistic expectations are rampant. There are some conflicting desires as well. A lot of Americans want/expect the high paying manufacturing jobs here in the U.S. to stay, but insist of the availability of inexpensive goods from Wal Mart/big box stores.

OTOH, you can make the argument that some degree of complaints r...

i would like to take part of the statment i made and somewhat apologize, as the first responder said... is true... i dont mean to call all americans stupid or ignorant or anything like that, my new job after i left cingular i still deal with americans on the phone and honestly i have come across some of the smartest ppl i have spoken with

however no matter where u go, it does seem like americans expect more than anyone else.. i have to repect the fact that americans have been through so much... wars depression.. and ultimately hurricanes... my heart def goes out to anyone that has ever been affected by such disasters of hurricane katrina and wilma i worked with cingular through these storms and did alot of things ( that corperate) would d...

cable... water... power.. etc.. do they waive late fees... do they discount ur mnthly bill for being a loyal customer... hell most ppl have been with these compaines over 10 20 30 yr's and do u call them day in and day out saying how u are so loyal and get everything u want... NO than why should u here... i have strongly though about coming back to cingulat...because i am extremely knowledgeable of the wireless system and how things work... i just wanted to get my point across..

Two things:

1. Alot of people don't have a choice as to they use for cable, water, and electric, so that is not comparing apples to apples.

2. The wireless industry (at least AT&T Wireless) used to do the...

the point of the matter is, i understand getting "deals" for being a loyal customer.. but when you call in over pointless little issues demading something huge than saying ill leave if ya dont do this... that jsut wrong...

you have to rember free phone and what not... yes anything can pretty much be done but you also have to look at things from a business stand point if every comapny gave every custoer a free phone than that would be billion of bucks in loss and that is not a goods business decidion
cingular is all about making a profit and that is why the former att wireless custoemr get screwed....

Ok I have to jump on this one - I have spent HOURS AND HOURS AND HOURS on the phone with Sprint trying to "solve" my reception problems. 6 months to be exact.

They have told me:

1) I needed to change my phone number (I had an out of state number because my husband is in the military) - I did this and doing so required me to lo...

I betcha in the contract you signed for the phones rgwew is a clause about the carrier not guarranteeing service...though in your case it might be argued that the contract was not made in good faith... I'd keep at it and see about getting released form the contract maybe, I can't guarrantee that you will be successful, but it is worth a shot.

As a fellow Canadian, I must say I am disappointed in this post. If you want to sound credible, please learn how to make an argument without stereotyping all Americans into one category. I dealt with a lot of garbage from customers when I worked for Cingular too but you know what? Canadians have their share of ignorance and complaints as well. On a side note, please learn how to spell and use proper punctuation so that your posts actually make sense.

my 2 cents says that Canadians are just as interested in saving a buck or two if they think they are entitled...I am betting that cell phone service is pretty much the same regardless of who you have, When I was taking calls and person had a genuine beef about the service or a bill or phone I would try to solve the problem, if I couldn't I would try to find somebody who could. If the issue wasn't something I could fix, pr there was nothing to be done, all I could do explain why whatever happened, and why free equipment or credits weren't going to be coming and not take the hostility personally. Life's too short to take on other peoples' bad days if you can't provide an answer that satisfies them.

Let me start this post by saying Canada sucks!
If your gonna slam America don't tell people your from Canada. Sounds better if you try to pass yourself off as a European or something. Everyone knows Canadians are American wannabee's. Do you even have an army?

Now that I have gotten that out of my system let me tell you that the idea of wanting something for nothing is not an American only thing although It probably did start in America as most trends usually do. Ive traveled all the way around the world to many places being both in the U.S. Navy in my younger years and an avid traveler now. Let me tell you that most people who worked for there buck want the best deal they can possibly get.

I know this post sounds narrow minded so it ...

Wow how ignorant! I agree that he shouldn't have generalized Americans but you make me laugh. Canada doesn't need a blood thirsty army because our time isn't wasted pissing off other nations. The USA and Canada are neighbours and share the same values (besides the whole war thing). Canadians are not even close to being American wannabees. I'll just sit back and enjoy my free health care.

LOL Now that's funny. You pay over 50% in taxes for your "free" health care. Then you have to wait months to see a physician.

Lets do some math.

If you earn $2000 a month you pay $1000 a month for "free" health care.

If you earn $20000 a month you pay $10000 a month for "free" health care.

NAh I'll stick with paying $300 a month thank you and see a doctor when I want.

BUt hey...... If you are homeless and jobless you finally get "free" health care (if you don't die first waiting for an appointment)

Yeah thats why Canadians are swamping US medical centers in border cities. All that great "free" medical care.

We have an integrated armed forces service which is quite active in peace keeping missions around the world. Our forces on the whole are very well trained and highly disciplined, Canada traditionally dosen't spend much in developing weapons systems. A question of priorities perhaps.
