Hi Everyone. I have a question. Well I just purchased a sony ericsson w600i and I just called earlier this week to exchange it for another one because the games and apps on mine were not working and its out for shipping right now. I was wondering if When I get that phone if I could return it and just not have upgraded at all, and wait till like January until something better comes out. Could I do that? My thirty day thing expires January 2nd. So basically I want to unupgrade? Is this allowed?

If you want to exchange the phone with a different phone (not a w600) you will have to do it within the 1rst 30 days. After those 30 days are over, you will only get a differnet W600 (refurb)

Thanks for the fast response, but that wasnt the answer I was looking for. I am already in the process of returning my first w600i. The 2nd one is comming in within these few days, but I was wondering if I could just return the 2nd one as well as the first one because I decieded I don't want the w600i. I want to go back to my old phone, and hold out until a 3g phone is released. Can I do that? Or since I already upgraded I cant go back even though I'm still under 30 days?

You already activated your upgrade and/or new service, and even if you receive a new phone in exchange, the 30 days cannot be reset...unless you can get ahold of a VERY generous support agent. I wouldn't count on it, however.

The answer to your question is yes. YOU CAN take back your phone as long as your within your 30 day trial and discontinue your upgrade. You will have to bring everything back and have a sales rep verify that all merchandise has been brought back. At that point you call up customer care in store with the sales rep present. You tell them that you want to completeley take back your upgrade and have original contract dates be put back. They will need to talk with the sales rep from where you bought the phone to verify everything has been brought back, then they will take care of you. This procedure can be done but is very frowned upon. You can do it but they wont like the fact that your doing it and might give you some flack about it. Just stick...

Thank you for your answer, i'm happy that i can do this, but how is this rude and frowned upon if I am going to upgrade for a better phone which is probably more expensive.. so they shouldnt frown at me they should be happy because i'd be giving them more money. isnt that the way to look at it. I'm returning it, but i'm going to upgrade in January-Febuary when they have more super dupular phones 😁

Yes thats true. The reason why they will probably make it difficult on you is because whoever set you up is now going to loose all there commission. So in a way, the company will be happy in Jan/Feb when you reupgrade but the people that you dealt with my give you a hard time with it. Plus its alot of legwork on there end.

People will be unhappy because they lose commission. The problem is a smart sales rep would take care of you and make it a pleasant experience so that you come back to them when you are ready to do the new phone.

Too many sales reps think NOW and not LATER and because of that fact they treat you like crap and make your life a pain and by doing so they create the exact response they do not want. A lot of sales reps do not trust the loyalty of a customer which is wrong.

stx80,
Do you remember the name of the salesperson that upgraded you? If you do I am impressed. If you do not its really the salespersons fault for not following up with you or making enough of an impression on you for you to remember. Are you going to deal with the same salesperson again to give them the chance to earn back their commission?
The point being that people in the sales industry, whether its cell phones, TV's, appliances or whatever get a base hourly or salary rate and then they get a commission for each transaction. Like a waiter/waitress and their tips, commission is really how salespeople make a living.
When you spend 2 hours with a salesperson and then decide you "changed your mind" we think of it more that you have no ...

I am a manager of an agent store. I think I know what I am talking about. I have done this for 5 years for 2 different companies and yes if someone spends quality time with me at any place I will give them the 1st shot the next time.

See I understand Quality and Respect is more important than a few dollars saved. I have people cancel on me very rarely but thats not even the point. The fact is you treat all customers with the same respect you would want. I have people that drive over 45 minutes to come see me at my store since I it over and left my other store. They do it because I have always taken care of them everytime. Taking care of customers and understand that they are human and sometimes they changed their minds is the most importa...

St1x80,
My response was meant for the girl who started this thread. Sorry I directed it towards you by mistake.
As for your reponse. I never said it was ok to be disrepectful to customers because they cancel service. I was just venting on how frustrating it is when an adult makes a decision and 10 days later they realize that they can not afford it. Why didnt they know what they can or cannot afford the day they activated? Did they activate a phone cause they were going on vacation and wanted to use a phone while they were out of town? Did they activate a new phone with me and then the carrier they were gonna cancel offered them a better deal to stay and so the hell with the new activation? Some people just have no respect for others. Ev...

Ya I have seen it plenty of times and if it is my server than I tip them extra to make up for the other jerk. I try to make everyone's life better and less stressful not worse.

I know how frustrating it is but thats part of dealing with the general public. You just have to learn to accept it and move on with your day otherwise it only makes things worse.

The account cancellation is done now online through sales portal. The rep in the store inputs the return info and can give the customer a printout of the confirmation number. It hits the account within 3-4 days and is backdated to the submission date.

You can "un-upgrade", but after the first 3 days, you'll still pay the upgrade fee. (providing you didn't switch from tdma)

you'll go back on your original contract, with no other penalty.

If you upgraded from TDMA, there is no going back.

Thats not at all true. Remove the upgrade SOC remove the charge within 30 days. Also you can migrate back to TDMA. It is called a "reverse migration".
