To those grief strucken nokia 6230 users whose phones locked up....... and they ordered a phone somewhere besides cingular to use on their networks..

i heard from a rep saying

" some how the lady used her insurance claim to get a w600i in exchange for her 6230 "

the 6230 was a great phone although kinda plain janey...

it had expandable memory on MMC's that run to a gig or more.. and an mp3 player..

they offered moto v551 or siemens s56 as a replacement

moto v551 = no expandable memory off its puny like 10 mb? of memory

siemens = no mp3 support without 3rd party or java apps..

so although a rumor.. i think it seems a just thing to do seeing as this is the only phone I see as able to replace a 6230..

so does anyone...

I had a customer with the problem and she called to get a replacement sent out while she was at my store. They offered her the V551 or the Siemens S66 (which I think is what you meant). The S66 is the most compatible model. I'm sure once the S66s run out (which they will soon if they haven't yet) they will need to give a different phone out for it, maybe a W600i, although I doubt it. The W600i is more of a teenager's phone, and the 6230 more professional.

In the end she didn't accept either phone, and I told her to just make sure she turned off the 6230 every night while it was on the charger. She called me a couple weeks ago just to tell me her phone was working beautifully after she began turning it off every night.

I have gone through 2 S710a's myself, problems with the OS locking up and needing to have hard resets to make it function on a daily basis. At first they offered me a Siemens S66 or a Moto Razr. I said Nay to both of those and called back the next day and asked about getting a W600i and the kind lady said "Sure, I don't see why not" without any hesitation. The only thing is that the phone is back ordered so she said it will be about a week before I receive it.

Hopefully this is true. Offering a Motorola V551 was like a slap in the face. Not only a different style, but doesn't even have near the same features. This will be more accurate to replace those features that I was fearing would be lost.
