I'm about to cut the ole land line and ROLLOVER has me feeling confident as the man of steel! 😁 😎 😁 How about you Verzion guy? 🤭 😡 😡

I cut the land line more than 3 years ago when I had free incoming on Nextel through work.

Since then, I went to Tmo, then ATT.

Still no rollover, and except for equipment problems which T-mo refused to acknowledge, I have never been over on minutes.

No need for rollover to feel confident!

You know, I work for Cingular but I still think it is pure folly for anyone to solely rely on a cell for your telephone service especially if you rely on it for any sort of business transactions. Landline service is more than 99% reliable while most all cell phone lines regardless of carrier probably hover around 90% (or less if you consider intermittent degradation of call quality). 😳

It's also bill consolodation. You pay $40 for a landline and $40 for a cell, one of 'em's gotta' go... 😁

...not to mention, it's easier to business expense a cell phone than it is a landline if you work out of your house...

That's exactly where my head is at! Two bills for same concept (phone), uhhhhhhh no, cingular77=NO LANDLINE. Alls I'm saying about ROLLOVER is if you have it and are cutting the cord, you sure as heck aren't going to feel NOT MORE CONFIDENT. Yes many have cut the cord who aren't with Cingular but who will be honest and say ROLLOVER wouldnt make them that much more secure in doing so??????? 😕

When I first "cut the cord", I had free incoming minutes, so rollover would have made me LESS comfortable, not more so.

Once I had cut the cord, I knew about what my usage was, and can confidently predict my monthly minutes rate to within about 30 every month. When I have 500, and I use around 250, having rollover is again, no security blanket; I KNOW I am never going to use that many minutes. Even when my wife had a miscarriage and we spend about 2x as many minutes as usual, we were well under 500. Maybe if somebody died on the 27th of the month (since my billing cycle is the 26th...I *might* exceed the minutes...)

Oh, Ok. Now I understand and I apologize for my comment. But, if that is the case, he shouldn't get all hostile about it. He should just state that and people would understand.

Eh, looks like I was wrong anyway. He said in previous messages that he apologized for the caps because he couldn't remove them. Now he posted a message without them.

Who knows andymore...

Never would cut the landline. It's much less expensive then having to pay over $39 a month for cell service. Besides its useful for fax lines and Cable TV PPV as well for $20 a month its worth having. Especially if there are kids at home.

I think cell phones are great but no subsitute for a home phone.

Must be nice! my home phone was rnning me 36 dollars for basic service and everyone i called was long distnace so i said screw them and cut it about two years ago. I pay 70 for two lines and everyone i call is in, with verizon. I use about 2000 in minutes a month, about 500 night and weekends, and only about 100 peak(oredering pizza and what not) saves me over 20 bucks a month and i get...

lots of cable companies are using the cable as a return path, so you don't need a phone line.

Also, you can order direct from the cable company...many cable cos don't charge for ordering that way, unlike satellite....of course, with satellite, you can order online...

I usually order my pizzas that way too 😈

You'll be happy to know a recent court ruling determined dsl customers cannot be required to have landline service just for dsl. DSL may go up, but total costs may in turn go down.

IN Utah, it's $5 more for DSL without a phone line attached.

Also in Utah (Comcast) they have been ramping up the Cable speed due to qwest is finally getting off their 🤭 and upgrading the system to support at least 6mbps DSL--of course, it is available in pretty limited areas. Also, some cities are signing up with FTTP (call UTOPIA here..Utah Telecommunications something something INfrasturcture Architecture or something...) so they had to.

Cable is theoretically limited to 30Mbps on DOCIS 2, I haven't heard for DOCIS 3.

Back on topic, I have no landline phone. I have Cingular, but not rollover (I am an ATT holdout))

You said it.

I have a great plan.

For me to switch to an "orange" plan, yeah, I would get rollover, but I would spend around $20-$30 more each month. To me, rollover isn't worth $20.

The other thing keeping me from switching right away is that the phones on cingular are more expensive, for comparable functionality, than the phones on other providers.

I am amazed when people talk about verizon not having any "cool" phones, when you look at cingular's lineup, there is nothing like the LG9800 at all (and you can't get much "cooler" IMO than that 😈 ). But even phone like the 8100, you have to spend nearly twice as much to get a phone with nearly the same features.

And then there's the whole high-speed data thing. Sorry...

I got cable, but still, that's pretty freakin' awesome. 'specially when a landline will run you 25 bucks o' month, even when its local only an' you make almost no calls on it.
