The only people who could start such weird rumors are likely the kids who work in the kiosk in the mall.

Kids? wow you really know how to call um huh 🙄 Where do you get off saying that we are kids? I work in the mall, now i came from managing 2 stores untill I saw working in a mall is more fast paced and exciting but that does not mean I screw over people and don't know what i'm talking about. I bet I know more then you, but hey what does that matter I work in a mall so im dirt, keep it real fuzzy bear, ya DB.

whoa there, nelly! He just mentioned kids at a kiosk and you jumped in to defend yourself against a nonexistent slander that you cheat customers and are ignorant. Freudian overtones aside, if you aren't a kid (very few children have managed 2 stores) or if you don't work in a kiosk, then there is no need to take arms and fight the fight bro.

More to the point, he wasn't commenting on YOU he was commenting on YOUR SOURCE for the rumor you heard.

I would guess that possibly this is related to Verizon dropping some of their analog coverage, this could easily be misinterpreted by some of the less informed among your bretheren in the retail industry as switching to GSM, since GSM is "pure" digital (of course, CDMA is digital also, but it is digital that started out layered on top of analog, and still is closely related to the analog technology, whereas GSM has always been digital)

BTW, being a manager is no guarantee against being a kid (I have met many such...) and also no guarantee against false information; I was in a store yesterday looking at phones, and the manager was t...

If CDMA is not "pure" digital, can you please explain to me why the trend seems to be that GSM is slowly migrating their technology to CDMA by going to WCDMA for their 3G upgrade path?

WCDMA is totally different than CDMA. CDMA is digital with analog back-up. Sprint PCS is CDMA but really CDM because they do not have analog back-up.

CDMA = Code Division Multiple Access

it does not mean Code Division Multiple Analog back-up. If CDMA required an analog back-up, why would most CDMA phones coming out now be ALL DIGITAL!!!! Granted, the first CDMA networks were built overlaying analog, but CDMA 2000 can function without the existance of analog.

WCDMA = Wideband Code Division Multiple Access

This is also known as UMTS. It is the standard 3G upgrade path for GSM carriers. It is GSM technology with a CDMA overlay. It is not compatible with CDMA, but it is much more of a move toward CDMA for GSM technology than it would be to say that CDMA carriers are moving toward GSM.

I wasn't referring to that. I was just making a general comment to some of the accusations on here that I don't know anything about anything.
