Yes, a consumer is solely responsible for his/her own purchases. If they go into a store (in any industry) and make a purchase solely based upon what a salesperson told them, they are responsible for whatever goes wrong with that item that they purchased. An educated consumer makes a wise purchase and therefore is normally much happier with their purchase.
for instance, moto says to cingular "hey, this new v180 is awesome. it does all this.... for $x.xx
cingular says "great. what deal can ya give me"
moto says "if you buy in bulk, we'll give ya a better deal.
cingular says "ok"

All carriers put out phones they shouldn't, or don't function the way they should. A smart consumer will do a little research before they buy. Buyer Beware
Cingular has a very strict testing process, which is why so many different phones are delayed for release. Regardless of the phone model and price range, all phones will have bugs. I have the Treo 650, and its riddled with more bugs than a Bronx subway.
But so many of these customers are lured by price, and dont care about functions or features, so they settle for the freebie or lowest price phone. That part is not our fault, they get what they pay for.
But our warranty process takes within days, when it would take weeks or months through the manufacturer.
I wonder what it is. Could Cingular be nickle and diming them too?
LEAVE THE "FREE PHONE" (CONRACT LOCKER) ALONE AND YOU WONT HAVE THAT PROBLEM.
All phones have occasional issues that Cingular carries. It doesn't make them bad.
