if they're stock didn't drop to $6 from a high of $50, maybe they'd still be around

if they didn't give away expensive phones all the time, maybe they'd still be around

if they didn't use their roaming partners so much for their coverage, maybe they'd still be around

but wait, isn't this the reason why you miss them?

I do too.....its hard for me to say I thought things were bad on with ATTWS but I was wrong way wrong! It seems to be getting worse. ATTWS treated employees with some respect...I cant say the same for Cingular.

There was no need for these comments. We weren't on the verge of bankruptcy; companies frequently have their stocks all over the board. We were still a great company; we were treated very well, were extremely valued as employees, and our company WANTED us to succeed. AT&T Wireless believed in career-pathing. They wanted you to be a CSR 2, 3, etc. as soon as you pos...

Those same people whom you hold to such high esteem approved the buyout offer from Cingular.

AT&t wireless was a high revenue generating Carrier. but they were on the verge of bankruptcy. the fines for months on LNP problems. The amount of money spent to try to keep customers form canceling service. The fact the GSM overlay was not near finished on AT&T. AT&T wireless was a dying company when they we're bought out. Not to defend cingular's practices at all I work for Cingular I know about all the little games they play with employees. I heard in 06 there will be a lot of integrating some of AT&T appreciation tactics into cingular.

I would hope they would incorporate the ones where they actually pay thier employees.

Well I certainly hope they do integrate A LOT of the AT&T appreciation tactics into the organization, or they are going to lose a lot of employees in the coming months. They aren't even going to have a chance to retain me.

We can all put puns on AT&T's leadership for approving the buyout, but I am quite certain they didn't know what kind of organization Cingular was. We can also say they were being fined heavily because of LNP issues, but those of you who are legacy orange didn't know what was going on; our company had invested millions in a useless billing system: Siebel. Then they weren't ready for LNP; there are always carriers lagging with something; we had our billing system crash for several weeks and then right around the corner...

AT&T wireless generated more money than Cingular ever did that is a fact. AT&T wireless was the first carreir to launch 3g in the US. AT&T b2b team was the best in the industry. Cingular bought AT&T becuase they filled in cingular's gaps. I know a lot about what happened with the LNP because my brother in-law is legacy blue. I give AT&T a lot of credit they did some great things. They made a lot of money. The only thing that stopped AT&T from buying Cingular was AT&T. Cingular was in the red for a while in the early days of Cingular. If u think AT&T credited accounts the old Cingular back in 2001 was a mess. Cingular is goingto try to implement some of the appreciation plociies of AT&T. But that won't happen till next year after all the layo...

Not one bit!

Their customer service sucked and so did their coverage in my area. What else really matters?

I'm pretty sure you are the only person that thinks that. It's a pretty well-known fact that AT&T customer service was top-notch. If I ever needed any help on anything the reps were right there to help me,

yeah...I'm the ONLY person who thinks that. In my experience it was not uncommom to be on hold with AT&T customer service for up to an hour!!!!

Also, I owned quite a bit of AT&T stock so forgive my bitterness.

And I don't know where you live but At&T had terrible reception where I live and work. Like most people I don't do much other than live and work so that was annoying.

That's why you need to use your trial period and bring the phone where you use it most and see how it works.

It is your own fault if you pass your trial period and complain about reception.

AT&T's customer service was why I left them 4 years ago. It was horrible. You had to threaten to leave them in order to be permitted to keep your unlimited off-peak minutes.

I guess this poor treatment of employees matters even to customers like us, because that probably goes a long way towards explaining the crappy customer service we get. So since there's at least a few bitching employees here, what's the best way I can complain about all the poor customer service I get (so that it might make a difference)? I don't believe it does any good when I complain to the reps I talk to, seeing as how they're generally incompetent, they would probably not know what to do with my complaint. Or even care if they're treated as poorly as you all say here.

If anyone has AT&T and is planning on keeping the service for a while............I have an Audiovox SMT5600 Smart phone......works great and has a 256MB storage card that I'll include. The first 175.00 grabs it all......
Oh, before I forget, I have all the accessories, most unused still in the box. I also comes with software and cable to synchronize the phone with you computer.

Phone is less than 3 months old, used probably about 1 - 1 1/2 of those months.
