cingular gets the boot from the NY state BBB

It’s not exactly the end of the world for the nation’s largest wireless carrier when it gets the boot from one state’s Better Business Bureau registry, but it certainly doesn’t make for good press… like this article, for example. Apparently Cingular couldn’t figure out its 20 outstanding or unresolved complaints (of 200 total) over the past three years standing in the New York BBB, so they were immediately expelled. We have a feeling this won’t be enough to get them to change their ways, but it’s nice to know that all that whining about poor wireless service can accomplish… something.

First off, they immediately take the position the customer is right so you have to prove your side, not just present the evidence.
Great example: With a former company I had a customer want to return an item outside of the return policy with no box and packing. He only wanted a refund, no store credit as we offered. We of course said sorry, no can do. He complained to the BBB and they wouldn't "accept" the outside of a posted policy response. They considered the matter "unresolved" because I wouldn't negotiate with the customer to offer a "smaller refund" even thought the customer admitted he understood the policy at the time of...

I certainly won't join them. I have seen their tactics up close and have no interest in giving them my money.
