hi there,

i just switched over to cingular from sprint yesterday and got the razr phone. i have been having some difficulty with crappy reception and am wondering if cingular good enough service for me to keep this 2-year contract. i know that verizon is the best in this city, but they are too expensive. has anyone had any good or bad cingular experiences in la? i work on the westside and live in koreatown, so i am all over the city.

thanks for your help in advance.

I learned my lesson when i tried cingular and the reception sucked tried 3 phones and no improved signal. If the signal sucks then its going to suck no matter what phone you get.I'd get out while i still could.

I would try another V3 some of those phones have software problems. Try another phone and another sim card. If that does not work then u can just cancel. And go to the green grass and sunny skies of Verizon wireless ha ha.

One, I can't believe that your service in LA isn't better with Cingular. Sprint's coverage in LA has always been quite spotty. Cingular so far as I have seen has great coverage in LA. Verizon does too, but if you don't want to move to Verizon, I would make sure the V3 is working right. What really matters is where in LA you live. That will make a bit of difference. In norther LA, Sprint tends to have better service than the GSM carriers. In south LA, Cingular tends to be much better than Sprint. I have seen friends complain about Verizon too, so unless they really offer better service for you, I would really make sure it isn't the phone. Cingular isn't as bad as some people make them out to be. Hope that helps a bit. 🙂

I didn't say that, but you can go ahead and say it. What I said is that maybe the phone is malfunctioning. And yes, Cingular service in LA is great and I don't even use Cingular. All my friends that have Cingular think it is great. And in the South Bay, most say it is even better than Verizon.

Before you try to go to another carrier I'd suggest trying out another RAZR phone. LA is one of our main markets. I can't believe our service could be that bad in LA. I'm in FL never been in LA -so I can't tell you for sure-...

Coverage in LA isn't that bad. But it really does depend on what part of LA. Like in one of my posts, Nothern LA is really patchy, it's really spread out with hills and valleys everywhere.

Cingular is very poor in Washington and California. And if you like the Razr, Verizon will be releasing theirs by Christmas and then you can enjoy the Razr phone and the best Quality network available of all carrers. Make it easy on yourself give up on Cingular

I think is funny how all these Vzw aficionados come in here to talk xxxx about Cingular. This is nothing but a failed attepmt to try to get people to sign up with their inferior but big CDMA network (I'll give you that 😉 ) mediocre phone selection and HUGE analog network. Your beloved CDMA RAZR will be crippled as pretty much the rest of your other phones anyway 😉

I will say this again. I live in LA and Cingular covegage is anything but poor. As matter of fact, there are many places where they are the only coverage you get. For instance, for all those that ski, on Mammoth, Cingular is the only phone that works.

I live on the east coast, but travel out west often. I have to say that the coverage out in los angeles and the surrounding areas ia OUTSTANDING to the coverage back home. The only place in california I didn't have service was on PCH in the more rural areas. Even in Big Sur I had full coverage.

Ya, Big Sur is pretty lousy because it's on the coast line going through mountains. Getting antennas there is hard because they want to preserve the wild life and look of the area.

Service in L.A. is about the same between Cingular and Tmobile, however I know from personal experience that T-Mobile is adding a lot of their own towers and reception has been getting better in the San Fernando Valley, and in West L.A./Santa Monica/Downtown and around the Whilshire district/Miracle Mile/Beverly hills area's

I have T-Mobile and from what I have seen, Cingular coverage over the entire LA Basin is much better. But there are areas where T-Mo does compare.
