When a current TDMA customer picks up a GSM phone, what is required for them to switch to GSM, since they are not doing any new GSM activations from what I have heard?

I think business customers may be able to migrate just because of certain contractual obligations but normally no there are no blue to blue migrations just blue to orange. Apparently some people were able to migrate from blue to orange then orange to blue which i think is dumb since they are trying to get everyone on orange anyway.

Blue to blue migrations (TDMA-GSM) are not allowed anymore, it's against policy. I ran into a situation one night where a customer had the wrong number ported out, when they ported it back in they put it on their long cancelled TDMA service, even then the migration team would not migrate it to GSM where it was supposed to be unless a supervisor in care noted the account. The rep in migrations advised that the tools they use to perform TDMA-GSM migrations have been taken away.

Blue Activations are still possible, both new activations and blue to blue migrations. There are restrictions though. A Blue TDMA can migrate to Blue GSM IF there is an existing BSM billing account to add to. New Activations must have existing accounts to add to both TDMA and GSM Blue. NOW it is also to be remembered that new accounts can be created IF there is a FAN involved, no need to add to existing account. ANY BLUE MIGRATION without an existing account or fan HAS to migrate to Cingular
