Question about Unlocking the Black RAZR

I'm in the Carolinas, where Suncom took over AT&T customers.

I'm have a line with Suncom but I hate their phones. So, I bought a Cingular Black Razr and was wondering what the best way to unlock it would be.

Thanks

There are some Web Sites that have the unlock codes for carriers and their devices. you can try and contact Suncom, but they'll just tell you they don't know - you can also try Motorola and they sometimes give the codes out to customers - but the best way is to search the web rfor these codes - Former AT&T Wireless CC Rep.

Your best bet is to try to get it from Cingular if you paid full retail for the phone they should be able to help you. If not then you're stuck with either trying to locate an agent or repair facility that will unlock your phone for you (I know of at least one, but you'd be without your RAZR for a week or so as it's in MI.) Or you can look around on the net to see if there are any reputable companies out there who offer the service.

Suncom doesn't have the codes and chances are that Moto is contractually obligated to not give them out.

Where in the Carolina's are you? I'll see if I know any place that can help.

Well, I heard through the grapevine that Suncom will unlock any gsm device.... not sure if they would since it was cingular branded. I took it back to the cingular store and they said no, because I am not a customer. I fought but nothing. Im cheap so I wanna do but I'm not willing to pay 50-100 bucks for the code.

Thanks

The supplier that I know in MI charges $5 for an unlock....but you'd have to ship your phone there to do it. It takes about a day so the whole turn around could be as short as 3 days if you overnighted it.
