I am on hold with a csr right now as I type this, who is trying to tell me the Nokia 6230 is a QUAD BAN phone. I tried to tell her Nokia don't make quad ban phone but this is, she just know it is, and I should listen to her, cause she is a rep and know what she is talking about. 🙄 🙄

I sill have her on the line and she said all she can go by is the information that is provided to her by Cingular. Why in the hell would Cingular tell there reps the phone in a Quad ban phone.

The reason that the agent argued with you is because the Nokia 6230 IS actually a phone that is capable of operation on 4 BANDs (quad) the phone specs are GSM 850/1900/1800

The phone can also access 800 MHz Cellular as well, because 800 and 850

(GSM 800)

GSM 850 is simply GSM technology operating in the Cellular (800 MHz / 850 MHz) frequency band. Both the technology and frequency band have been around for a long time, but only in 2002 were they combined. While still being seperated in come foreign countries. Which allows the phone to operate on 850 in the US and 800 in other countries. please see www.GSMWORLD.com for more deatails. . .

yeah, and then 4 months down the road the customer goes to a country that can only support 900 and calls to find out why his phone doesn't work.
At this point he's out of buyer's remorse even though it was misinfo, and there's nothing he can do except buy another new phone.
I've seen this happen tons with ATT stores.
They only realize it once they get TO that country, and they always go into the store specifically asking for a phone that will work in such and such country.

Actually the Nokia rep for Cingular in North Texas once told me that 900 Mhz was also 850 Mhz. I took it with a grain of crack since he is usually more interested in his Tiger Woods golf than helping us poor schmucks.
