EDGE Data Speeds and In-store Demo

So I got my laptop station finally set up in my store. I tested my connection speed via cnet.com bandwidth meter. 221.1 kbps average speed. Not too shabby for a nationwide network.

Anyone else have something like this set up in their store? A laptop demo to show customers how fast they can expect their Cingular data connect to perform?

Have a great night everyone!

No but I use a edge data card and a sprint phone as modem and sprint is faster.

I sell verizon's broadband card and that is the fastest but has limited broadband coverage. when it is not on broadband it is the same as my sprint phone.

Most of the Cingular stores in South Florida have a laptop with the card. Not all of them have it turned on.

Thanks for the last paragraph. The rest of it was completely off topic.

What card are you using in the laptop? Both the SE GC83 and the Aircard list speeds ranging from 100k to 130k. I'm not sure if the card makes the difference, or if the Edge speeds are simply faster in some locations.

SE GC83.

I have not seen anything on the card or materials that states a speed. That is up to the carrier to make those claims or statements.

I got high speeds of up to 299 kbps, the average was 220 kbps. EDGE, when released, was as slow as you stated but has since been steadily "improved".
