My MPX200 died, whats the phone number for the insurance carrier?

jmallx

May 8, 2005, 6:09 PM
Well my MPX200 finally bit the dust.
It was a crappy POS to start with and its finally dead. Luckily for me I have lockline insurance.

Can anyone tell me the phone number to call to make a claim?

Also, what is the replacement phone for the MPX200?

How much is the deductible?

Thanks

Well you have 3 problems:

1)Lockline is 877-288-4678, but they are closed right now.

2)If you have insurance, then you file a claim, but the insurance should not have been added, since lockline does not insure that model, but if you were paying a monthly $3.99 insurance fee, they will honour your claim then cancel your insurance, since Lockline never isured that phone, a rep must have added it, so ...

I originally got the phone from www.amazon.com and added the insurance when I bought the phone online (through ATT of course).

Bad thing is, my phone has done the before. Lock up and then be fine 12 hrs later. Will they charge me if I send the phone in and it starts working?

My SIM card is ATT but they will probably send me a Cingular phone. Will that be a problem?

Thanks for the quick response.

The phone will a refurbished(used,reconditioned)

What was SUPPOSED to happen was I order the phone from Amazon, put in the SIM and charge it and its all set to go.

What actually happened was I had to call ATT and read them what I ordered from Amazon.

But yes, I have been paying 3.99 for insurance.

Heres a copy of my bill from the website

Well according to that, you do have it and this is what will happen:

Call tomorrow, 877-288-4678, have your info with you including your phone.

You will file a claim, you will since on the "legacy blue" side pay $35.00 non refundable deductible, you will get sent a refurbished(used, reconditioned)phone, they will cancel your insurance since that phone is not on their list of eliglbe phones, they will fufill if they have taken your money for a monthly premium, then cacnel insurance.

BTW, you have only a 90 day warranty on refurbished phones, so after that time frame i suggest either buying a new phone with migration and once they process the claim you will lose your insurance, so you will then have very limited options.

You will no...

I can always Ebay the thing, and I want something after this debacle of a MPX200.
I do hate to pay to only use it for 2 months but getting another contract will be worse.

And I can always sell it and feel okay about selling it. But this MPX200 is just a Fiat in disguise that I would feel guilty about selling.

Thanks for your help Austin316.

It has great features WHEN it works. MY mpx200 would lock up on me at least once a week and I would have to pull the battery to get it to reset.

I had my first battery for 6 months and talktime dropped to less than an hour.

How this thing made it through quality control is beyond me.

Hopefully lockline wont send me a refurb mpx200.

Yeah, the mpx220 has not been out for a year yet, but the mpx200 has been out since late 2003. and no, lock/line insurance has never covered the mpx200 (at least not on the blue side, don't know about orange), and as has been previously stated, if somebody does add it, lock/line will honor it one time only and then remove it that very day.

you mentioned about in 2 months going to T-Mobile, to get a good deal you are gonna have to do a 2 year contract plus Start of service fee, if you migrate, you'd get a better deal for 2 years plus no start of service fee, just eqipment upgrade fee of $18.00

You don't have to do 2 years with cingular either, the discount the phone you get is based on either 1 year or 2 year, so T-Mo and cingular offers discounts with 1 year and 2 years, the plans are not based on length of contract.

people want the lowest price for a phone, the offers on those sites as well as other carriers and indirect sites are the prices of the phones based on 2 year site, if you want that price you get a 2 year, if you want a 1 year then you get a different price, see if they did'nt that way, it would be considered bait and switch, so they show 2 year phone price with 2 year contract, if you want to know prices with 1 year let me, i'll tell you if you have a interest in a peticular phone.

Warranty on refurbished equipment varies by manufacturer. The carrier only supports it for 90 days and it's not necessarily true that the phone will be a refurb. If the problem is not related to user error and you have a "blue" account with a "blue" phone you can call 1-877-746-9244 which is the Warranty Exchange department for legacy customers. Aside from that, Lockline does not exchange for manufacturer's defects, the insurance is only in place for physical/liquid damage or loss/theft, same thing as car insurance. If Lockline does not process the exchange I suggest contacting Motorola (1-800-331-6456) and they'll either give you a local service center or the address in Ft. Worth, TX.

P.S. I work in the warranty resolution team.

it is also worth noting that the number for lock/line if you are on Cingular Orange is (88😎562-8662, and that from what we are told in warranty (handling both blue and orange warranty), on the cingular orange side, lock/line replacements do have full year warranties, on the blue side, it is usually the 90 day refurb warranty, except in the rare situation they send out a new device.

Trust me, the vast majority of blue remanufactured phones have only a 90 day warranty. a couple manufacturers (literally) have 180 day warranties on refurbished equipment, however even for those, the blue warranty service center (formerly known as wex) still can not do an exchange past 90 days. and then there are other things that complicate matters, like if it was purchased refurbished (as opposed to received from insurance or warranty), then it can't be exchanged at all unless they have EWL or CEC, it would have to be directed to some repair center. they are really making refurbs a pain for e...

Then what they do is charge you back the replacement cost of the phone, i had a case of that today, it was the same thing, they had insurancce they should not have and processed a claim, for a blackberry, it was not returned as per agreement from lockline so they added a charge to the account-Non Refundable by the way, for the replacement cost $249.99, its there to prevent abuse of insurance claims, and to cut down on possible "insurance fraud"

ah ah ah, read lockline paperwork, you call them for either lost/stolen or liq/phys damage, and they do want to do wither one of these

1)Lost/stolen-You have to file to police report, and have that report number to present at time of claim.

2)phys/liquid damage-You must return your damaged phone, when you receive your replacement phone, if you don't they will chargeback you the cost of the phone they sent y...

I hope you are not telling customers that, cuz when you call the lockline numbers it tell you that if you are filing a claim for a missing/stolen you have have a police report number on hand. I can also tell you that they won't process the claim till you have that.

They don't til after you transfer the call, they go into detail over the claim, and if you call it , ieven says in the options that if filing a claim for lost/stolen phone press "X", and when you push the right option thats the first it says while waiting for a rep , then the rep during the claim filing process is told that again.
