Can Anyone Answer This?????

HAND

Apr 6, 2005, 4:59 PM
Im not sure how to ask this so Ill give an example...
I have a G/F, I go to her house and I want to block another girls number from being able to call my phone while Im with her, but once I leave be able to unblock that other girls number so her calls would come thru. Are there any Cingular phones that can do this or any ideas on how this could be accomplished? Maybe like having 2 different call list and block or unblock 1 or the other at different times?
Weird request from a customer, thought Id ask since I couldnt honestly answer him. THanks for any help.

Well unfortunatley Cingular does not have a way of blocking cell phone #'s or any #'s for that matter. He will have to figure out some other way maybe he will just have to turn his phone off while he's with his G/F. Sounds like there may be some cheating happening here?

Cingular doesn't have "call blocking" capabilities like SBC or any other "landline" does. So, he's gonna have to get creative like "accidently forgetting his phone". 😁

Or some phones have the option to have a "call block" feature. Like the Nokias in their profiles you can restrict certain caller groups from ringing... So you could use something like that. πŸ˜•

That's what I was going to suggest. Most phones have a group setting where you can specify certain functions to different groups. I run into a lot of customers who activate this function on accident, but you can set permissions for groups so those numbers don't ring when you don't want them to. Work numbers can ring one way, family another, and then groups for each of your many girlfriends.

The Sony Ericsson T616 has a feature that if someone calls you that is NOT in your phone book it will send them directly to voicemail. I don't know about anyother Sony Ericsson phones, but I know for sure that one has that feature. Good Luck...

As for the nokia features about restricting caller groups..... that could get you in trouble too. Lets say that your G/F gets ahold of your phone and looks at your caller groups to see that you have another number in a group by its own.... she may get suspicious , espically when the profile is set to silent.

As far as the Sony Ericsson, you could just play it off like you are getting some telemarketing phone calls or something and that is why you turned the feature on to block all numbers excep...

Please keep in mind that Cingular is just his service provider and what he does in his spare time is none of our business and therefore none of our concern! Of course this is just a suggestion, it really doesn't matter.

STOP BEING A DOUCHEBAG! Cheating is horrible. And, if you're not safe, you can catch an STD. Or even better, knock one of them up & have to deal with a kid for the rest of your life. ONLY LOSERS CHEAT! My advice is to STOP cheating & pick one girl. If you think it is fun, or if one person cant satisfy you... learn to visit your friend Rosy...

What does that have to do with call blocking? That's okay, he would've gotten' that same reply from Cingy tech support if he had called them...

#1. Power on handset
#2. Select 'Menu'
#3. Select 'Don't cheat, douchebag!'

Ok - THIS is ridiculous. I get publicly reprimanded for an off-topic post in this forum, AND reprimanded seperately for telling someone to "Shut your mouth", while others are in here calling each other douchebags & such. What gives??? πŸ˜• 😑

ps - I do agree that cheating is horrible (I'm not disagreeing with that).

Attack it from a different angle, program the other girl's number into your phonebook, but put it under the name "Steve" or something. Since the phone will default to displaying the number with your phonebook tag, it will still come through, but you can look at it and say "Steve? What does that a-hole want anyway? Voice mail for you, bozo!" and reject the call. G/F never suspects, and you look like a hero for choosing her over talking to your friends... Or you could just tell them both that you're seeing other people and deal with the consequences, but honesty doesn't seem to catch on much... πŸ™„

Work customer care for two years and these things start to occur to you. I get very, very tired of people playing their stupid checking up on each other games... Seems to me, if you're hitting something you ought to be able to be enough of a man/woman to stand up on your hind legs and tell ANYONE that you're doing it and to hell with what anyone thinks of it, but I guess I'm a minority... πŸ™„

Some phones have ringer profiles like the Motorola V400 that I have. If the number is stored to the phone book you can assign different ringers or put it on silent, so he could assign silent to her number when he doesn’t wont the phone to ring at his G/Fs and change it back when he leaves. 😁
