URGENT MESSAGE FOR CUSTOMERS OF CINGULAR AND OTHER WIRELESS CARRIERS!!!!

People, this is BIG news for anyone who pays for wireless service! This has been going on for who knows how long, but the general public must know! If you are a wireless customer and you are reading this, please spread the word immediately:

YOU ARE CHARGED TAXES ON YOUR BILL, IN ADDITION TO WIRELESS SERVICE CHARGES

Thats right folks, if you sign up for a 39.99 rate plan, you dont actually pay 39.99. Thanks to sneaky little hidden charges like "911 Service Fee" "State Municipal Telecommunications Tax" and the infamous "Federal Excise Tax" and "Federal Universal Service Charge" you may be paying up to $12.50 more a month, skyrocketing your bill to 52.49 or more a month!

If you're like me, you're probabl...

Wow. Really? When did this start, and why wasn't I notified? I figured something this big and Earth shattering would have been communicated in an e-mail at least, if not a HUGE training meeting. I think I got the short end of the stick on this one.

Sorry but I just had to put that up after the call I got. A woman wanted to know why her bill was so high, and I opened Telegence expecting the usual high first bill due to advance billing. It turns out the bill is only 51.09, so I ask her what the problem is, and she says, "but i'm only on a 39.99 plan." I went through the bill and explained that the only thing on there were the taxes, and was even nice enough to add them up for her. She asked if I could lower them or take them off further bills.... 😕 riiiiiiiiiight....I just told her she would have to contact her state government or municipality. I would've referred her to the FCC about the Universal Service Fund, but I figure they get enough complaints from our customers as it is 😉...

You might have a taxless service as long as you have the right credentials. Other charges and surcharges are still applicable.

You don't get taxed if the government pays for your phone 😁 for some odd reason the government doesn't have to pay taxes to themselfs.

Why does this surprise you so??? What you're complaining about is billed by EVERY cellular provider. Its not anything immoral or unethical. Also, if you check the fine print in the rate plan brochures (and on the contract you sign) you will see that you ARE in fact notified of such charges. Why is it Cingular's fault (or problem) if you're too lazy to read the fine print? 🙄

Also - NEWS FLASH: These FCC & 911 surcharges show up on your landline bill as well. They are GOVERNMENT charges that no service provider is making profit off of.

Yes there are a few svc providers (like SunCom) who will incorporate all of the taxes/gvmnt charges into the cost of the rateplan so that it is JUST 39.99, but this is not the norm.

I think that the only people who dont know about taxes are idiots. If the complain that they did not know about taxes, tell them to go home to the rock they live under.

I mean, after all, the government taxes you for breathing or taking a dump.

I think the only thing redeemable is when they dont know how MUCH the tax will be. 😕
