I am currently a Verizon User and had a phone when ATT was Cingular...Now am thinking of switching back for the new iPhone and am nervous abotu the coverage in the Boston area. Also could anyone tell me approximately how much it might cost per month for the new iPhone?
Thanks in advance

Local taxes and other charges withstanding, your pricing looks like this:
$89.99 - 450 minutes, UNL Data & Msg
$109.99 - 900 Minutes, UNL Data & Msg
drop $20 if you don't message...
...
And as far as you know coverage has to be much better than when I had Cingular...Which by the way sucked.

Ive been to Boston a lot. My grandmother lives in Camebridge or something like that. She had AT&T until Jan or so and switched to Verizon.
1. Because Verizon is the best in Boston.
2. Most of the people in Boston and around Boston have Verizon.
3. She couldn't get service in her house. I could never understand her when I would call.
She works at the hopsital in the area, not mass general, but I think Camebridge Hopsital. She couldn't use her phone in most of the hopsital, while she can now with Verizon. Shes fixing to move back down south because they are closing the hopsital and moving them all to Summerville I think it is.
Hope this is some helpful information. Good luck with your choice tho!! 🙂

did we really have to read that whole story about your grandmother? Did you think that adding all that will make your story more factual? Stop trolling the forum

another one of those my brother's sister, mother, father, aunt, uncles, cousin blah, blah, blah, blah stories. heard all of them already. TROLL!!!

it is true i live in Boston too and most every none has verizon because it's the best there. even sprint is better than att there. att network is falling apart all over the country.

your subconscious failed you!

just curious, where are these "facts" that more people use verizon coming from? do you have documentation of that. or is it that just people you know have verizon. again just curious?

If the coverage with Cingular sucked it isn't likely it improved so much as to overtake Verizon. You might check with friends and family there rather than take our word for it.
I can tell you this, the 3G network is being ripped all over the place for good reasons. I have the Bold and my coverage is horrible. I have a Storm as well now, coverage is excellent in the exact same areas.
Good luck.

How does your 3G seem to work out West with Verizon? I know they are upgrading the Alltel network to Rev A on every Alltel tower. I was going to see how the speeds are.
...
Dallas Fort Worth area works great. 1 MB downloads are pretty consistent.
...
No, out WESSSTTTTTT... lol!
Alltel West... Lubbock West.
🤣
...
I have never used my Verizon line there. I only had AT&T when I owned my stores there. AT&T actually had very good coverage while I was there.
...
My family hates it. There are a lot of people excited about Verizon coming in from what they say. I guess there is a lot of Roaming around the city? Thats what they say. I have't looked at the service map.
...
Where do they live? Do they actually live in Lubbock? Lubbock County is where AT&T has service (with some areas to the South). If they go outside that area they will roam (with no fee of course, it is pretty seamless) on either Plateau Wireless or Alltel.
Now when Verizon takes over they will run the Alltel area of course but you and I both know Alltel's network will not improve overnight. If they are roaming on Alltel and are not happy with the coverage they won't see much enhancement to the coverage. EVDO Rev A will also not be deployed there immediately.
AT&T does dominate that market for a reason. They have great capacity there (really low population density) so their 3G actually works pretty good.
They may be thinking Ver...

Well, Verizon is testing the Rev A data right now. They said to have it launched around the time of the switch over. Of course not on the date, but around it.
They live out going towards Smyer I think it is?
My grandparents, they live in Mississippi, just switch to Verizon. She went out to where they live for a vist like 3 weeks ago I think, and it picks up great in the house. They get 1, maybe 2 bars with AT&T.
...
Yeah Smyer is pretty much the sticks haha. AT&T is roaming out there all the time. They should not expect it to work better once Verizon comes on for some time.
...
Oh, well my grandmother went out there and she said her service was great with Verizon. I just looked at the service map, and it shows native service, but its in the 1 bar area for AT&T.
...
Yeah it isn't their coverage.
Technically they should have never been sold AT&T service to begin with.
Oh well.
...
I'd defiantly take em' for a spin. I have noticed not just ATT but any GSM carrier struggles inside old buildings like hospitals, court houses, etc.
I don't know how Sprint is but I know VZW uses a lower frequency for voice and SMS witch penetrates buildings better.
...
Yeah I just priced out the new iPhone and it would be $235 for the phone and service options and then $113 a month...kind of steep.
...
Especially given that there are much better phones and carriers out there.
...
Well the BB Tour is coming for Verizon plus if I get the itch to get the iphone I'll wait for Verizon to get their hands on it in 2010
...
IF they do get the iPhone. But yet again, if you grab the Tour on Sprint, you'll save money for pretty much the same service (despite what the Big Red Trolls might tell you)
...
Verizon has the best service in the north east. He can count on our 3G network and our towers to be up and going. All of our towers have back up power in the US. ALL OF THEM.
Sprints customer service is horrible. Don't you work for them? You sound like it. 🤣
...
And there it is, just on cue.
And no, I don't work for Sprint.

Only if they have coverage where they needs it.
And if you are looking at the tour, you want 3g coverage. Sprint cannot match Verizon's 3g coverage. so if sprint offers 3g where they need it, then yes, sprint is a better value. If they don't, then the money saved is a wash because you are still paying less, but for inferior service (in that area)
I'm sorry this is a difficult concept for you, as you bring it up in nearly every post, but coverage DOES matter.
