Upgrade - iPhone 3G to iPhone 3GS
So when iPhone 3G rolled out I believe you could upgrade from 2G to 3G at the $299 contract price rather than the $499 not eligible price no matter what time frame you were on. Will this be true with the 3GS, like if I have 3G, purchased in February, can I upgrade to 3GS and get it for $299?

From the information I have seen, the answer would be no. The reason is ATT didn't subsidize the first iPhone, so when you upgraded to the 3g iPhone, it wasn't that big of a deal. Since they now subsidize the 3g iPhone, you have to actually qualify for the upgrade pricing to get the upgrade pricing on the new iPhone.

beat me to it by one minute

Most likely not. The reason you could get the iPhone 3G at the discount is because the original iPhone was not subsidized so you were eligible for upgrade immediately, but the iPhone 3G was subsidized. Now you must check eligibility like all other phones.
USE *639# SEND to check upgrade eligibility.

THANK GOD! The people who walk into the store saying "iphone" like the seagulls in Finding Nemo say "MINE!" are annoying.

I've got my upgrade information and whatnot, I'm an indirect myself, and I shelled out $500 last time since I didn't have iPhone 2G. Just didn't know if I would have to again.

If you can't upgrade you will. The press release gave early upgrade prices.

The official return/exchange policy for the new iphone states that if you purchased the device after May 9th, 2009, you can exchange it for the 3GS @ the regular upgrade price.
This date is hard and no exceptions are being made...sorry
