Frotz is a freeware app that will let you play both classic and new IF (Interactive Fiction) games. This genre was popularized in the 80's with the Zork adventures by Infocom. It is still thriving, with literally thousands of stories to play through in every category.

ScummVM is an app that lets you play classic point and click graphic adventures from the 90's (remember all those cool LucasArts games like Loom and Monkey Island?).

Of course you will need to download the games you play with these apps separately, but they are easily found with a little bit of searching online. I suggest you google Frotz and ScummVM for more details, but these two apps give you access to a wide variety of adventures.

I am not aware of any RPGs, but trust me, the cell phone market is almost to the point where companies are going to tap into the cellular gaming $$ potential and you will see subscription multiplayer games available for smartphones before you know it.

Here is a link to give you more info on ScummVM.

I just got around to reading my October issue of Gameinformer, and page 42 has a list of 10 cool games. One is a free Puzzle/RPG called "Aurora Feint: The Beginning" which apparently even lets you compete against your friends.

Also there is Vay for $4.99. This is a remake of the classic Sega CD RPG, with new widescreeen graphics and touch controls.

Both of these are available on the App store.
