Okay, so. I have a pretty nice phone, an unlocked RIZR Z3, and I'm on AT&T.
it's fine, it's fine. whatever.
anyway.
i'm really sick of it.
i want a phone with a QWERTY keyboard.
NOT a smartphone.
it can be for cingular/AT&T or T-Mobile
please, nothing older than 4 years
and no sidekicks.

any suggestions?
(yeah, it's a hard topic 😕)

The only QWERTY phone that ATT offers at the moment is the LG CU 915 or 920. They are a good touch screen phone with both a 10 key pad for phone use and a full QWERTY keyboard on the screen. The difference between the 2 phones is that the 920 has live TV capabilities and is more expensive. The 915 is rarer and a little harder to find.

Why wouldn't you want a smart phone?

Just get a blackberry and get over yourself.

there are no extra monthly charges to own a smartphone unless you get webaccess. messaging charges are the same. If someone tells you otherwhise they are lying to you.

Nah. I've never owned one, but I've messed around with some of my friends phones, and I just don't like the interface or anything.

well, I just want to give you advice as a long time user and advocate of cell phones. I honestly have not found a phone as easy to use as a blackberry. I am like you, I don't use the smart phone function at all, I don't use email, I text an a$$ load, and I talk. I am a phone junky too and I still can't get rid of my blackberry. It is simply just the best phone I have ever used. I don't want you to say that all smat phones are out of the question just because you tooled around with your buddies phones.

Buy a blackberry Curve. Get the unlimited texting. On all of the icons you don't want (the ones requiring data usage), click the Blackberry button (the one with the logo on it) and select Hide. Your screen will only have the few icons you are interested in.

Now you can have only icons for say, your text messages, your call log, your camera, and your media player. You can even re-assign the left and right buttons to something else, like Messages and Camera.

Anything you don't want, hide and you have a very simple single page interface where you can quickly go from section to section with a quick flick of the trackball.

The organizer aspects of the phone are free to use (to do list, notepad, calendar). If you ever get to the poin...

All those people who say a blackberry is more complicated than a normal phone should read your post. When you customize the BB it is seriously EASIER than any phone to use on the market and it does things better! MAN BB gives me a chub.
