Phone recommendations?

Hey guys, a friend of mine is with AT&T and is looking for a new phone. They asked my advice, but I don't have any experience with AT&T. The only requirement that they have is that it's a quad-band phone. Camera, bluetooth, etc is completely irrelevant. Just something that gets good reception, battery life, with the quad-band support. He travels every week, often to different countries around the world. He's also brain-dead when it comes to technology, so the simpler, the better. Thanks in advance.

The iPhone is too much for this guy. He was actually considering that, but he got confused trying to use it. I'll tell him to look at the Z9 though.

That phone gets service everywhere..... But it doesn't sell features...... That's where we're going folks if u like it or not.......sell a PDA or else it seems like it!!! I hate to say it but if he wants a great phone go buy a 6010 off eBay for 30$ he will be happy LOL this business sucks that we have to recommend old technology!!!!!!!!

I would not blame the business. If a carrier provided a different new phone tailored to the exact specific requirements of every different customer, there would have to be literally hundreds of phones offered. Of course, this in turn would confuse an entire group who has problems making choices.

The Z9 is an easy phone to use. Just because it supports features a customer will not use does not mean it is more complicated. A customer who has no interest in GPS won't be hindered by the phone's ability to use it. A customer who is not interested in voice dial will probably not even realize it's a feature. A 3G capable phone won't make its usage more difficult. How many people bring a phone back because they are being confused by the bl...

6010 was only a Dual band device - would not work for this user who needs quad band.

If the friend is traveling to Japan or Korea, he would need a device that also has the 2100 mHz UMTS band, which the Z9 does not have. Devices with tri-band UMTS/Quad band GSM are Sony Ericsson Z750a, Blackjack II, Tilt, and TREO 750. My rec would be the Sony Ericson - I have had great results with their products, and it fits the bill for his use.
