My parents have 2 lines (Family) with ATT and I want to be able to get the iPhone 3G on Friday. If I am added as an authrotized user to the account and even thought I'm 17 will I still be able to get it by myself on Friday?

Thanks.

No, because the account holder is the only one that can extend the contract. You only have access to certain information and that is not one you can do.

Okay I just wanted to make sure because the rep at the ATT store told me that if I was in the system as an authrorized user and if I had the account holders SS and my photo ID I could do it.

Yes, you will be able to do sign any information if you are put on as an authorized user by the account holder.

They might be giving the account holder a call, but other then that, you will be able to get it.

Great...Haha...so should I be trusting you on this one? Because I've got to opposite answers now. But I'm going to stick with it because that's what I was told.

Thanks a lot.

that info is INCORRECT !!!!!!!!!!!

ONLY THE ACCOUNT HOLDER (MAIN PERSON ) CAN ADD A LINE OF SERVICE TO THE ACCOUNT

AUTHORIZED USERS CAN ONLY UPGRADE OR CHANGE THE PLANS AROUND AND MAKE PAYMENTS ....

HAVE YOUR PARENTS GO WITH U TO GET IT DONE!

I AGREE!!!! For a contract it's required you have to have the account holder to sign it... It's for legal purposes!!!!!

Also, you can't upgrade even if you are an authorized user unless you are 18+. You have to be 18 or older to enter into a contract. At least that is how it is in Mkt.35.

The federal regulations say that authorized users can do upgrades with photo ID, but only account holders can do activations. So if you are trying to get a new line, you would be out of luck (unless you find a rep willing to violate regs for the commission--not an unheard of event). If you are trying to upgrade an existing line and you are an authorized user, you might have trouble with your age, but I think most reps would just check your ID to verify you are who you say you are, and not even notice the age issue. The whole concept of an authorized user is that the account holder has given the authorized user the ability to do most things an account holder can do. But you would be better off just bringing your parents into the store wit...
