I'm new to this site & have been checking out past forum discussions (if you can call them that) & thought I'd let some of you know that whether it's merger related or not (we're being told by Cingular it is) the service in Texas SUCKS! Recently upgraded to V551 & constantly have dropped calls. Many customers opting to stay with 6340i's since they use old & new systems. Any thoughts?

My mom has a 6340i and she and her husband are in Austin. They travel frequently to south Texas, amongst all other places they go. My stepdad had AT&T and shortly before the merger he switched to cingular. From what they tell me, there is quite a bit of difference between the coverage on the 6340i (GAIT) they have, and his GSM only phone. Actually there is a software issue with Motorolla phones that motorolla is looking into. If the phones are never power cycled regularly before 3.33 days they will constantly drop. It is a motorolla issue and nothing the carrier can do about it. Motorolla is looking into the issue and will release phones with the new firmware most likely when they find out what is causing that bug with thier motorlla firmware.
