Just picked me up an N95

AvgJoe

Apr 6, 2008, 11:36 AM
Couldn't pass up a $440 N95-3. Im going to use it for a week or two and see if 3G is all that.

The wife does not want the N82. She prefers her 6126. So I may sell it if I prefer the N95.

look for it on Ebay Tombo7777 if interested.

Joe,

Which one is the N95-3, is that the american version with 3 gigs? Where can you find one for that low? The lowest I saw was Dell for about $530.

The 8GB forces you to use the USB port to download your music and movie files to. Can you say F I V E hours to transfer?

I prefer to load the SD cards directly then insert them into the phone. I like using SD cards and I can install Garmin on them easily and use it on both the N82 and N95 when I switch out the cards

I just don't see the "upgrade" t to the N95-4.
The downside is steeper for my use.

Actually its a lot different from the original which had a smaller battery and some camera issues with slow start up. This one also has much much more RAM then the original which could not run a lot of applications simultaneously.

They fixed a lot of issues on the N95-3. The N95 4 is not so much different from the three. 10MB more RAM, .2" larger screen ad some software one can get on the three. However the N95-4 has 8GB memory limit and Garmin cannot be installed on it (legally). And the USB transfer is horribly S L O W becasue you cannot load your music and files on an SD ...

Ebay is my Friend. The N95-3 is the one with the SD card (up to 32GB) and 3G.

The N95-4 would have cost abot $150-$200 more new. I don't see that much worth of "better" in the N95-4. .2" larger screen. Paging files and flash Ho Hum.

I rarely buy phones new. Especially high end ones. The owners of them are so anal if they had a lemon they would have had it replaced. Some people on HoFo actually complain about some creaking and a slightly loose sliding mechanism. I'm not that anal.

No. This is the N95-3.
http://www.mobilecityonline.com/wireless/store/produ ... »
There a three ways to tell you its a N95-3. First, 850/1900 WCDMA which are the U.S. 3G bands. Second, 160mb internal phone memory. Third, 1200mAh battery, the original N95 had only a 950mAh battery.
The link is where I bought my N95-3 and my wifes N82 from. They gave me good service and fair prices. You will like this phone!

Paid less then I paid for my N82 (But the N82 had the Garmin XT SW)

Sprint ? I still get a collection letter from them occassionally.. mess my credit up idiots...

Wow, OK. Let me start off by saying that the comment brown made is just dumb. Not everyone cares about DC. And nokia pos? High end Nokias are great phones. I'd call the low end nokias crap, but not the high end ones.

Why do y'all feel that because someone has Sprint service that they are "low rent," trailer park trash, ghetto or are just a dead beat with bad credit? I have Sprint. All of my family and almost all of my friends have Sprint. We're good hard working people that pay our bills on time, don't live in trailers, are not banging our siblings and have at least decent credit.

Y'all like to say how the network is horrible. Well...

You're right, each carrier performs different in certain parts of the country. Also, the statement about SPrin customers is a blanket generalization, I worked there, I do think a ton of dead beat people have sprint but I also used to have it and I have good friends who have it. No biggie. Sprint always just had the lowest deposit required when I worked ther so if someone destroyed their credit, sprint was still an option.

I understand the generalization. I just wanted to speak up for the good customers that are here too. There's alot of them. But the bad ones are the ones that people talk about.

I used to sell Sprint, I'm a tech now, and the lower deposit was a nice selling tool.

I just get tired of sooo many people bad mouthing the company. I know that the image isn't good right now. I know that it will take a long time to fix it. I'm just doing my part where i can to show the good side.

If i go to the mall in my Sprint shirt, i get looks and the occasional snickering from people working the booths and stores for the other carriers. Every now and then i set them straight, or correct them if hear them giving false info to a customer about ...

The only thing I dislike about it having both the N95 and N82..is the lack of the Xenon flash the N82 has. But the 3G is makes up for that. I use that more than the flash.

ITs a really complete gadget,

Its does everything well.

GPS is a real SAT receiver chip not dependent on the network

The video capture is real VGA at 30FPS not the more common phone QVGA

NO corners are cut on either phone as far as features go from my vantage point. I can read and edit MS Office files carry personal data in an encrypted folder, increase memory up to 32GB as the technology becomes available on SD cards

3.5 mm Headphone jack is a small but extremely useful addit...

I cannot imagine using another phone. I have become accustomed to the all in one nature of the phone.

you need to understand I don't really use text messaging much if at all so qwerty is not needed. Reception is great. (The network where I am is not so hot) but the Nokia does better than any other phone I have used here.

Looking forward to your "review" and experience.

I already know what its going to be though IF you understand that a phone this powerful and small should be put on a charger every night and you should have a car charger and a charger where you work and an extra battery.

You can buy extra batteries and a cradle for less than $10 on Ebay.

Another thing I love about the N95 are the included headphones. You can USE YOUR OWN ear buds and still be able to make and recieve call...

Its pretty intuitive. Once you get on the N95user forums you will learn a lot and DL some pretty neat SW as well. If you want the best GPS without a monthly charge. Buy the GArmin XT package. Its like having a Nuvo 660 in the phone. There is SW out there to use the phone like a WII as the phone has an accelerometer in it. Three must have SW paks. Garmin XT, Handy Taskman, You can also put the Opera browser on it, And for the PC Mobiola Video Studio Pro which converts any video file to a small file and sends it to your phone via BT. you can put whole movies on the memory card phone to watch later.

You can also print from your phone to a printer on your home network as well as have the phone show up on your network.

Sw applications are not that expensive. Garmin is $99 but the alternative is...
