Uh no....You WILL get a credit check. No one will offer you "credit" for being a responsible consumer without a credit check.

Try pre-paid. No credit check needed just real money up front.

yeah and thats why sprint has so many people who either a) dont pay their bills b) pay 39.99 flat rate each month cause thats what they were told it would be or c)activate a billion accounts fraudulently and never pay a bill

and no im not bagging on sprint cause i hate them i work for em they help me pay my bills, but its just stupid to not have to give your ssn or at least dl # when getting service.

Sure, you can use the name Mickey Mouse or Hulk Hogan if you want. But all you can get is Go Phone.

If you want postpaid service you will be required to show a goverment issued picture ID. Unless that is your real ID number (which we all know it is not) they will not allow you to purchase the phone and activate postpaid service.

Then it will run your credit and tell you that the name doesn't match the social/id number and you'll have to call their customer service at which point they'll report you for fraud and possibly identify theft.

Do you REALLY think they do not have safeguards in place for the credit roaches in the world who think they can jack the system?

I gave you the answer for if you were honestly asking. Now we know you just want to commit fraud.

How do you refuse to give your social/ID? No company can legally ask for that stuff. I have no idea how AT&T policy works, but there must be something they can do to start service. Verizon has that person pay a $400 deposit to start service. It sucks, but the option is there.

Well,

In addition to policy Federal Law requires that those seeking to establish a service that is post-paid and/or credit based show ID. That is basic identity theft protection. As I have said many times in the past there is not requirement to provide a SSN BUT if you choose not to provide a SSN verification of your credit requires additional steps. You will be asked questions about your credit report and if you cannot answer you do not get approved.

Verizon should have similar policies to comply with the Fed rules (established last year) to require ID for any post-paid type service.

Of course pre-paid is another story.

CREDIT RATINGS are everything! They determine how much you pay for car insurance! How much interest you pay for goods, whether or not you are responsible and abide by your agreements.

Keeping your credit rating good is the single best thing one can to to save the most money in many areas of life nowadays. EVERYONE checks credit.

Mom and Dad cannot fix that one for ya. Personal responsibility is the key.

sprint allows customers who either refuse to give their social or dont have a social to get service. There is a 150.00 per line deposit required and you will be approved for 2 lines. guaranteed 999-99-9999= no social

I'm sure that's fraud. It's not like they programmed that into your system for that purpose. If they wanted you to do that they would have a little check box that says "no social" or "my credit just sucks really really bad" or "the government is after us!".

Well yea it is fraud. A social security number means your are a valid citizen here in the United States. If you are entering all nines that means that they are illegal immigrants as the legal ones are issued social security numbers. If someone simply refuses to give theirs they either have bad credit and should have to deal with it or are illegal anyway. Don't sit there and tell me that it's a legal practice, entering a false social security number under the pretense that it is the actual number is indeed fraud.

A person has the right to refuse giving his/her social security number to a company. It has nothing to do with illegal immigrants or bad credit and everything to do with identity theft. Most people that I've dealt with don't care, but I've had a handful of people that are worried about it. Entering a number like all 9's tells the credit department what's going on, and they respond with a full deposit. It's not fraud; it's company policy. texaswireless said that AT&T has different steps for the same situation so I'm not sure why you think this is illegal.

Our steps don't involve entering a false number. They just don't enter one and override the system. It does have to do with immigrants, obviously if they don't have a social they will refuse to give it to you and then can just enter all nines. In that case your company policy is fraud. Just because The Mobile Solution says to keep peoples credit on file and use it for other people with deposits doesn't mean that it's right. If Wal-Mart said the new policy is to shoot all customers in the foot that doesn't mean it's not illegal.

We're not submitting that information to run a credit check though. That information is submitted to our company's credit department. They see that number, and it means that the customer refused to give the social. I'm not supplying this number to the federal government to try to get loans or something. It's all internal. It's just a code that means "We need a max deposit so clear this so I can continue." There's nothing illegal about it.
