Hello All,

I'm finally hoping to get a contract extension along with two new phones for me and my mother this week. I'm trying to narrow it down to the Nokia 6126, 6085, or 6555.

We both have Nokia 3120s and we really like them. We'd just be making calls, and I'll be sending occasional txt msgs. Stuff like MP3 players, internet access, and camera quality don't really matter to either of us. Reception, call quality, durability and battery life are more important to us.

I was hoping to get basic Nokia candybar phones again, but the 2610's dim and reflection-heavy display is unappealing to me. I've been reading about battery life and durability issues (screen, hinge) as far as the 6126 is concerned, so I'm wondering if I should ...

I would recommend the 6555. It is a high-speed capable handset, however, which means depending on where you buy it you may be required to add an internet package. It's a great phone as far as signal strength and sound quality.

Just because a phone is 3G doens't mean you have to have an internet package to use it.

1. 6555
2. 6126
3. 6085

All three are good choices. I have heard some bad things about the 6555, but it is the only 3G phone of the bunch. Plus, the problems that I have heard about are covered by the warranty. I prefer the 6126 because if its design. The 6085 seems to bulky and just plain ugly to me. However, both the 6126 and 6085 have almost identical features including Bluetooth, expandable memory via MicroSD and music players.

What I believe UOQuack was talking about in regards to the 6555 and a data package:

Some stores require a data package in order to get the mail-in rebate. I work for a dealer and that is the way our pricing works. If you do not get a data plan (internet and/or messaging) of at least $10 and keep it on y...

In regards to the data package, exactly right. In fact, my agent is one of those that will require the data package to purchase a 3G phone or data device. We further require the customer to retain the feature for a minimum of 6 months. We do this because if we don't, we simply don't make money. Since implementing this requirement, our gross adds have increased and our feature charge backs have decreased greatly.

True. But what I said was, depending on where you buy it, you may be required to add an internet package.

I understand that you may have to get an internet package in order to recieve a rebate on the phone but to say that you need to get an internet package to even buy the phone is completely FALSE.

You are missing some of what I said. I said depending on where you buy it, you may be required to add the data package. My store is one such place. We will not sell a 3G phone without a data package, nor will we sell a data device without a data package. I understand what you are trying to say, but what I am saying is some locations do in fact do it the way I say. As authorized retailers, we have that ability.

I'd go with the 6126 for you and 6085 for her.

The 6126 doesn't have tooo bad of battery life if you disable gprs from pinging all the time. And I have never had anyone complain of durability issues. The only complaint I get is that the shortcut to the camera is very easily pressed on the phone.

The 6085 is good I just really wish the external lcd was brighter like my old sony w710 all manufacturers should have massive ext lcds
