I'm no fanboy, by any means, but at&t is really not that bad! Why the **** do so many people hate on at&t?! 🤨

I've had all of the US carriers and ATT has treated me the best with service and devices. I have always thought Verizon's phones look crappy and boring, Sprints look lame and boring, Tee Mow Bile's look cheap and gaudy, and Nextel is too heavy labor-ish. I just like the styles and positioning of ATT(ne' Cingular). I also like Coca-Cola over Pepsi and Levis over Lee jeans. Who knows maybe I'm just like 65 Million others?

Pepsi - Diet pepsi that is. I like the way Lee jeans fit.

I had Verizon before I started working at AT&T - I switched. I don't really notice a difference... verzions customer service was awful, and I had a few bad in-store experiences.

The Verizon phone wouldn't work at the coast in San Diego when I worked for Coke. I returned it two days later. Cingular was just better reception all over SoCal when I lived there. When I moved back to PA it was great here as well. I'm just ticked Verizon doesn't have DSL or FiOS in my area. You want to be an industry leader and you only offer your internet to areas that have high incomes or new developments (which I live in but I'm 30 yards too far for their DSL). On top of that they have convinced the State of PA to keep other local/internet phone companies out or segregated to small territories. And the nerd in their commercials drives me nuts. Especially when he's pretending to be in labor.

I just think their phone look generic. No style. Their Samsung and LG phones look like the ugly step children of their GSM counterpoints. Just my opinion.

i liked the enV. i won't mention anything about bluetooth or blatant blocking of anything, but sending a message sucked. it has that progress bar and that's just stupid. every gsm phone i've had hides that. but i guess verizon doesn't want you doing anything else while the message sends.

VZW is outsourcing too much of its customer service right now. It costs too much to build new call centers and get them up and running, so we are using a ton of outsourced help. The outsourced reps for the most part do not meet the requirements to even be VZW employees. The reps dont care about their jobs or VZW policies and overall give out customers really bad experiences.

VZW has decided its better to have customers wait less time to get to someone than to make sure that your call to us is handled correctly.

While most of the people answering the phones are VZW employees, for some reason some accounts go to these outsource people far too often, I have seen accounts where the last 6 people the customer spoke to were all outsourced (w...

GSM is done. Its limit is 2g. All 3g from att and tmobile will be WCDMA and they will sooner or later move all voice to WCDMA also and get rid of GSM.

CDMA can go through to 4g which is Rev C I beleive but its more expensive then Wimax and LTE. So the Carriers have opted to not go that way. But CDMA is not even close to the end of its capabilites like GSM is. CDMA is not dying.

The natural progression of CDMA is indeed being halted in favor of LTE which WILL be backwards compatible with GSM phones but not CDMA phones.......Do the math.

CDMA has a long way to go but is not going there, They are abandoning the UMB upgrade path in favor of LTE,
"Vodafone CEO Arun Sarin said it would happen, and it looks like it finally will. Verizon will start the switch from 3G CDMA/EV-DO to 4G GSM/LTE in 2008, but what does it mean for the customer?

"\This quote is from your link....

"Having a predecessor technology already in place is a great help in introducing a new technology especially if new devices are backwards compatible to existing networks. Here, LTE has a big advantage as the standard will most likely be defined in such a way. Thus, handsets and other mobile devices will not only work in LTE networks but also in 3G UMTS networks and most likely also in 2G GSM/GPRS/EDGE networks. This is especially important in the first few yea...

Japan already and has for years carried voice and data on WCDMA. And it makes no sense for ATT to keep them separate either. Why keep two networks when you can have one? And I read that they will do it somewhere but can't remember were. I think their video calling already is sent over WCDMA.

I know that at&t has WCDMA in some parts of the network and they are trying to get it in the more populated areas...but i dont think they are going to shut down GSM anytime soon if at all...cause thats what all the phones fall back on when WCDMA is not available in parts of the network that arent very populated areas

Feb 13, 2008, 4:17 PM
the thing is...they are not going to put 3G in all areas cause it will be to expensive and the population is so small it wont benefit the company...so they will leave it at GSM

they will move it all to 3g. just like sprint and verizon will be evdo network wide by the end of this year. WCDMA is cheaper to run then GSM.

As long as I can buy any phone I want and use it's features as designed and ATT does not cripple it in ANY way I could care less what they call the technology. So far so good.

reputation is key.

hillbillies know little, but they do pay attention to reputation.

A company's reputation is a leveraging tool. Either they bash on you because of a poor reputation, or throw a good reputation in your face so you give them what they want.

make sense?
