Relocating to Long Island, New York area codes 631 and 516 and zipcodes are in the 11700's.
I'm new to the cell world. Can anyone tell me if Cingular has good coverage there? A friend suggested Verizon, but he told me Cingular has better phones.
I could use some help here, thank you in advance.

My suggestion is to check out cingular.com and when you select the option on the right hand side of the main page, choose to look at the phones and it will prompt you to enter your zipcode where you will be using the phone and that tool will indicate coverage.

Considering you are locating to Long Island, NY it is very likely that you will have good cellular coverage. Practically every wireless carrier in the country has good solid coverage within at least 100 miles out from Manhattan.

Check first, but you should be in good shape. And, it's a great choice going with Cingular as your carrier if you decide to do so.

I think Verizon and Cingular are the best options for the island as the rest of the coverage (particularly Suffolk County) from other carriers is at best inconsistent and generally unreliable. Though T-Mobile is very popular (real good plans for real cheap, though I stick to the addage you get what you pay for, my work cell is T-Mobile and is ok) and Nextel, I think...
