Question for at&t reps

I finally given up on getting fix for the ill Treo 680 and sold it. I am using an old phone for now since I can't upgrade.

Regarding warranties, does at&t honor warranties on phones not purchased brand new from one of its stores or web.

Specifically, I am interested in treo 750 or BB curve and want to buy one of them off of eBay. Would at&t honor their manufacturer's warranties. How does it work?

As far as I know, this is only a warranty for the original activated phone not the one that you added on. Especially from Ebay you cannot get a manufactures warranty. Be careful, I have had more than one person come in with a display model instead of a working phone from Ebay. Let the buyer beware!

In the past i have actually bought a defective phone off ebay and sent it in for warranty repair. and a week later i got a refurbished phone back it turned out good for me but I do not know what kind of info palm or BB ask for before they honor the warranty.

As long as it's IMEI # is on your account and you're within your one year, I could see them honoring it.

As AT&T did not manufacture your phone they do not have a warranty to honor. If the phone was originally sold from an AT&T outlet (every curve would have to be as it is an AT&T exclusive phone) the warranty would start from the original date of purchase. If you got the original receipt from the seller then you could technically be covered under AT&T's warranty exchange department.

If the TREO was purchased direct from Palm then the warranty would be only via the manufacturer.

im from warranty... as long as the phone's imei is on the account, we would be honoring it...but mind you, only one phone per account, example...if you have a samsung d807 and you bought a samsung a707 at retail price in best buy or radio shack maybe, then we could only honor warranty for one of the phone, not for both phones...if you prefer the a707 then say goodbye to your d807's warranty/for phones purchased on a 3rd party online of from another at&t user, we wont be honoring that, you need to go through your manufacturer. 😁

with regards to your concern with the treo, it could still be warrantied as long as its imei is connected with your account!

par_slim, thank you for your feedback.
How does the purchase date is factored in for used phones purchased from individuals or ebay?

we have a system that knows everything....we are GOD! and the government...hehehe just kidding 😈

we have a system that tracks all of the phones, sim cards you use, when you first used those phones, where you bought it, when you purchased it.. 😲 so its kinda funny when some cust think that they could get away with a new phone by giving us false info regarding their phones...

I want to believe you, but when i talked to CS yesterday regarding a billing issue they thanked me for being a customer since 2004. I politely corrected him indicating I'd been a customer since 1994 - he apologized and said his system didn't go that far back!

cust care have a different system than warranty
🙂 and not all reps from cust care have the capacity to see that, probablly retention agents would show how loyal you have been with at&t 😁
