New upgrade policy

All this iPhone crap is overshadowing one of the GOOD things going on lately. Is anyone else happy about being able to Upgrade a customer's account and seeing the "upgrade fee waived"? More people are not having to pay the fee than those that do lately. I hope the customers appreciate that we're trying to change things to help them out too.

True, cuz what's another $18 on top of $599?

🤣

Because a fee of $18 is going to dissuade someone paying more than twice that just for the sales tax on the device.

Some people would balk just on principal.. at least the sales tax is doing something useful.. I stopped going to buy phones from cingular partially because of this.

So now you just buy your phones at full retail since the upgrade fee was automatically generated when you upgrade a phone?

This is getting away from the point of this whole thread anyway. Most people wont have to pay upgrade fees anymore.

well, usually not from Cingy at all. I preferred them unsoiled by the likes of Cingy's crack dev teams.

I am glad to hear they are making some type of change for the better though!

well also one bad thing about the upgrade policy.... i had to tell a customer they couldnt upgrade because they had too many non pay disconnects, even though they were 2 days from their contract ending. i called customer service and they told " thats the new way to punish the non paying customers".... which is totally bogus because everytime the phone gets cut off they have to pay the $36 reconnnect fee anways.... plus for some people they arent as financially well off as others they have a hard time paying their bill as it is.. and then ATT turns around and tells them they cant upgrade until they have 6 months of uninterupted service.... i dont know.. but do you guys agree with that policy?

I think they can still upgrade when their contract is over, but definitely not during. The only ones I've seen that say "Never upgrade" are the EON or DEON users.

I had a customer whose arpu is around $120 but they have had a few too many non-pay disc. and one line was out of contract and it said she wasnt available to upgrade bc of the nonpay disc. whats stopping the customer from freakin leavin the company? im sorry thats just a dumb move, way to punish the customer and piss them off while there more vulnerable than ever at&t! but hey thanks for waving the upg fee when they CAN upgrade.

Screw the "free" upgrade. Just buy a new phone and keep your plan on month to month,

why the h is there even an upgrade fee? you are already extending the contract and buying a phone with a marginal discount. that contract is the killer.

As a customer the waived upgrade fee doesn't mean anything to me. I'd much rather pay the $18 upgrade fee and still have the one year contract as an option without having to pay full price for the phone.

Doing away with a one year contract option is a big mistake. An $18 upgrade fee is just icing on the cake. Customers should all be treated the same way - fairly. Charging one and not another just results in bad blood. Looks like the 'new at&t' isn't doing much of anything to improve their bad customer service. Just more of the same.
