Hi-
I'm currently a us cellular customer in the chicago land area and I'm considering switching phone companies. I think I'm looking more for the GSM Satelite service. But some people say T-Mobile and others say Cingular(now at&t). What are your suggestions? Does Cingular - At&t drop a lot of calls.

GSM doesn't use Satellites

Satellite phones are still around the $1/minute range

I'm guessing you aren't looking for an actual satellite phone, but GSM. Coverage in Chicago looks pretty good for both at&t and T-Mobile per their maps.
Sorry I can't offer more, I live in FL.

get a phone from both of them and see which one you think gets better coverage in the area. i prefer at&t cause i believe more than likely they have their 3g service up and running there and that has huge advantages. plus it does look like at&t is rolling out a bunch of new phone over the next few months.
