This phone is not gor me but for my father.
I want to get him a phone he can use, he never had a cell phone before. So i just need something very easy for him to read and basic for him to use. I dont know much about phones so I was hoping someone can help me. I narrowed it down to the LG400 pr the SYNC? Which one would you guys reccommend? Or is there any otehr phone on the market you would reccommend over these two. Any advice would be more then appreciated.

If it's his first phone, I'd say neither. Get him the Nokia 2610 or a Samsung 417. The Nokia is much more durable and he'll find it simpler to use. The only reason I even mention the 417 is because it's a flip phone and then he wont have to learn how to lock the keypad. If you want a durable flip, go for the LG CU500.

Between the two I'd ask a few questions first...

Do you think your father will use the speakerphone version a lot? Do you think having a large screen and big numbers to see when dialing is a good thing for him?

For great speakerphone, the CU 400 is the way to go hands down. It's designed for PTT, but PTT isn't widely used. The great thing on that though is PTT handsets have great speakerphone capability and the CU 400 is no exception. Speakerphone is great on the Sync as well (I own one) but if you flip the top down (as many instinctively do) you end your conversation.

The Sync has a larger window and Samsung's large number font for dialing. It's a sturdy phone that fits great into the hands of people who haven't had a cell pho...

Best advice I can give is not to take advice from Radio Shack employees unless you're looking for an iDog or rechargeable AA's.

Am I to assume that I am the Radio Shack Employee that you are referring to? And I own the Sync, compared to the V3xx and the Cingy 8525, it has crappy reception.

I do not work for Radio Shack, nor do I work in any electronics industry, I do however like cell phones and I have gone through 12 in 4 years, and the sync has horrible reception. It cuts in and out of coverage.

just my two cents. I am a tad insulted though by your assumption but I will let it slide.

Actually I was referring to whoever gave the latest Radio Shack promotions.

As for assumptions, you are the one making them and therefore deserved to be insulted.

Do your homework before you show up to class, or get left back.

Well The reason I was asking is that you responded on my post, so why wouldn't I assume that?
