Moving to a new area

I am going to be moving from the Washington, DC area to Atlanta in the next few weeks. I use my Cingular phone as my primary line (no land line). What is the process of once I get down there of obtaining a Atlanta area number? Will this cost me any fees or will it require a new contract?

Any insight is appreciated.

just stop in any store and tell them you need to do a relocation. some markets charge a "market transfer fee" (basically an activation fee with a different name). here in NY State, there is no charge, it just takes about 15 mins if we're not busy here in the store.

Your best bet with anythign in the wireless world, is to call ahead. By that I mean call Cingular prior to your move and ensure that there is service in that area, ensure that once you move you can also change your number and ensure that you will be able to keep your contract and phone if you want. We try to work with customers within reason when it comes to things like this, but its always best to call a CSR and ensure that you get a heads up on all current policies and such.
